New Red and Orange Line Cars

You'd rather they wrote in complete sentences? I.7.8 (bar; left of the door); 8162: We two dear men, friends forever, were here. If you want to know our names, they are Gaius and Aulus. I.10.4 (exterior of the House of Menander); 8304: Satura was here on September 3rd V.3.9 (House of Cosmus...

New Red and Orange Line Cars

People have been scrawling messages on objects since ancient times. Honestly, if you look up what they found in Pompeii modern graffiti is usually pretty polite in comparison : http://www.pompeiana.org/Resources/Ancient/Graffiti%20from%20Pompeii.htm Also "graffiti" found written in old norse...

Odurandina's idea of what the wealthy do with their money is very much a poor man's idea of what the wealthy do with their money. I'm also pretty sure if he has money he spends it all on blow and then comes on here, explaining his sometimes bizarre rants and height fetishism.

This. It represents a lot of things that make my skin crawl. It also wastes water in dry states, and is a complete waste of land in a place like this.

General MBTA Topics (Multi Modal, Budget, MassDOT)

Is there a non-profit out there that simply pays for the fares of those who struggle to make ends meet? You know, help people out and help the mbta patch it's budget holes at the same time?

The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

I wasn't actually dissing the rooms. It actually has some appeal to me, I'm just saying they're keeping prices down by using space efficiently.

The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

I think you need to do some research on what the citizenM brand is and how big the rooms are. The prices are on the high end for rooms the size of walk-in closets.

Because the "English" word is literally a word adopted from French in relatively recent history with an anglicized spelling. It's not a word that existed in earlier forms of English. We for the increased amount of units, I wonder if they ended up going for a different branding?

One Kenmore Square | 560 Commonwealth Avenue | Kenmore Square

Won't everyone be surprised when 2030 rolls around and electrified heavy rail is still the most effective way of moving people around in urban environments? Hopefully we won't still have to be whining about chronic under-investment at that point because historically all this speculation in...

Good god he pulled out the cringiest NIMBY arguments too. Traffic and shadows? I agree with "more residential" but I think traffic and shadow arguments need to be retired for good. At this point even valid traffic complaints automatically make me feel angry because traffic complaints now come...

    The New Retail Thread

I'm not following this analogy. Horseshoe sales might be down due to there not being a lot of Horses in Cambridge. I'm pretty sure though that there are still men in Cambridge and that they still wear clothing. I'd have some very mixed feelings about it if they didn't.

    The New Retail Thread

Someone should call out the fact that blocking late night business is prejudiced against those with sleep disorders that give them circadian rhythms not considered "normal". I'm one of those people, I'm naturally awake at night. Preventing businesses from having late night hours for us is like...

I don't know about you, but I personally can tell the difference between a maple and an oak but telling the difference between different maples ?????? I'd be lost. I'm having really nasty allergies right now and am currently looking at every tree with suspicion thinking " Is this tree causing...

Dude, the FAA max is only 300' here. And from what I can tell, nothing has been proposed yet for us to tell whether or not they are going to that max. 300' doesn't tend to meet much opposition when not located next to a single family residential neighborhood.

Housing a Changing City: Boston 2030

Ummm. Everyone seems to be assuming jobs only happen in Boston. Here in Portsmouth and across the river in Kittery there's more jobs than people. It's not a phenomenon exclusive to Boston. They've been screaming "housing crisis!" here too but unlike Mass no one seems to even be trying to do...

Housing a Changing City: Boston 2030

So, I was just going through the 2018 census data for housing permitted. ...We're still building wayyyyyy too little housing. Mass is carrying New England for the most part and they're still not building enough... Maine and New Hampshire are doing a pathetic job as well. Rhode island too...
