The odds of the new owner keeping things as-is or close to?

On the plus side, its hard to see someone coming up with "gourmet" German cuisine. (What even could that be? Free range hasenpfeffer? The sauerkraut boiled in spa water? Gluten free gluten?)

On the down side, some "genius" chef might paint the interior all white and serve seaweed bars and steak frites.

I'm assuming that the purchase price is the name, good will, fixtures and whatever is left on the lease. It would be interesting to know if the last time the sale included both the business AND the building. I smell asset peeling, which might be fatal.

The weird thing about Jacob Wirth is that the German part of the menu is very small and not very good. If someone turned this into an ACTUAL German restaurant, serving more than the stereotypical knockwurst and jaeger schnitzel, I think it would be much more popular.

The space is beautiful as-is. Maybe a light freshening up is in order, but I would hate to see a major change.

Fair points. The Student Prince/Fort in Springfield does a much better job.

Make it a hybrid of hooters and John Harvard's Brewpub, but with drindls.

All the profit is in the beer - find a way to whitelabel a passable lager and you've got a license to print money.

Not even kidding - this concept would absolutely kill. Franchise that and thank me later.

^ That's fucking incredible. Not only is the racing great and the engine notes are all intoxicating, but that 70mm footage leaves absolutely nothing to be desired. Thanks for that.

You're welcome KZ! A good baseline for showing how Monaco has been wrecked by grubby design since then. (Villefranche sur Mer is nicer and affordable.)

I can’t believe they raced without guardrails.

It HAS to be. I couldn't shake that notion one bit while watching.

So I originally posted this in the hq2 thread but realized how far off topic it was so I'll put it here instead:

I'm not into sportsball at all but if Vikings fans are too polite to get even with the eagles fans at the superbowl, I hope the patriots fans get good and drunk and buy Boston cream donuts in large quantities to fling at eagles fans. Like, reading about what the eagles fans did disgusts me. Somebody needs to be mean (but not outright violent) back.

^ Kinda wish someone would fling large quantities of Boston Cream donuts at me. A super bowl food fight would be pretty awesome until someone got murdered.

An eye for an eye makes everything alright. That's how the saying goes, right?

Those Eagles clowns can throw unopened beer cans at me any day. Unlike the Minnesota rubes, I know how to catch them and have enough arm to return the empties to sender.

One thing that bothers me is when people complain that Boston isn't world class because the trains close at 1230 or 1.

I live in Kuala Lumpur and I left a friends party to run to catch a train home and I missed the last one for the night. It was 1145 pm

As a night owl, Kuala Lumpur just got knocked down a few spots on my places to visit list knowing that.

Especially since 24 hour train service is extremely rare in the world - NYC has it, London is just starting to do it. Chicago partially and I think Copenhagen has full 24/7 service?

There are plenty of things to do in Kuala Lumpur late at night. Bars and clubs in the city close anywhere between 2 and 5, depending on the jurisdiction, and you'll find more 24 food stalls and eateries than you can count.

In my suburb, bars close at 2am but I can think of at least one that has a "shut in" until the wee hours. Across the street from my condo, there are at least 2 24 hour food stalls.
