I.....cannot.......wait.....for....this....one!!!!!!!!!!!
This project, with it's street level walkways and pedestrian access is a placemaker.
Between this and the Foundation Medicine building, there's going to be a lot of annual convention-goers who will have an amazing new visual experience. So many people only see cities through business trips- the effort during the Covid Break will have totally changed this neighborhood.
It's interesting, but it doesn't go anywhere. Would have loved a similar effort going alongside WTC ave bridge and over the haul road. This is definitely a cool way to use that triangle parcel between 2 highway on ramps that otherwise most likely would have been windswept grass for decades. It may not end up as popular as the renders depict, but the upper ped connection is worth it alone, the space below is icing on the cake.

My first reaction to your "scary" notion was to laugh... But your idea that the artistic use of LEDs would enliven Summer St. is inspired. Connecting these weird crossings to and away from the convention center and South Station would really enliven the conversations essential to that economy.Looking at the street covering designs for this project and Foundation Medicine, along with all the bridges/overpasses on Summer St, here and around the Seaport, I wonder if the net effect will result in a lot of potentially dark creepy spaces for pedestrians at street level. It would be cool to see planned LED light displays/retail/activity in some of these covered areas.

Back to the scary; under no circumstances should anybody think to "light up" the A Street crossing and staircases. The essential "darkness" of this particular place is, to my mind, one of the more real experiences in the city. In regards to conversations leading to new ideas, that shitty place should remain, so as to provide a counterpoint.
Because A street and Necco is where the cool kids live.
