I believe there is supposed to be ground floor grocery retail space in the new building planned. Hopefully something similar comes back in the new building.That's a bummer it closed. Good point. Mine was a largely selfish reaction, although I do feel that developments like this one speak to the increasing diminishment (that's a word, right?) of Chinatown.I hear ya on a personal basis, but it didn't close - - it moved. Given that area of Newton Centre, I'd venture to guess the cash flow is quite good and they're looking to grow.
Very true, though I enjoyed the "Dirty Old Boston"-ness of it.There really wasn't any reason to try to salvage the current building -- it's a bit of a mess.
