It looks like this condo project is being revived. 52 units in 6-7 stories on Chestnut Street.

I'm glad to see this project was picked back up - I think by a different developer? I'd love it if they'd replace the parking garage behind it with a tall structure. Portland needs to continue to build upward and revise building heights. I also appreciate the diversity in this picture!
 
Agreed....I like the diversity of building color and materials as well! Very interesting and different(!) residential building than many we have seen.

I think it's all the same property. The entrance to the garage, where the curb cut would be, is about midway between Oxford and Lancaster Streets:

Why would the architect (if there even is one yet) create a design with ominous storm clouds behind? A portent? Although I like the look of the building, I'm hoping they don't chintz with the materials. Otherwise, this could be God-awful ugly. It has the potential, anyway. Fingers crossed.
 
This is one of those projects I keep forgetting about because of the out of the way location and the amount of time it's taken to finally get off the ground!

This project definitely feels very "out of sight, out of mind" for me, but it's good infill and hopefully will be a catalyst for more growth in Bayside. So much potential in that area.

Agreed; there are so many parking lots in Bayside just begging to be developed for housing. With this development, I wish something taller were built on top of the "stout" parking garage.
 
This building may ultimately be a catalyst for more development in the immediate area, but at the moment it's a luxury condo building going up almost across the street from the city's main homeless shelter, abutting an ugly parking garage, and within spitting distance of the still very active E. Perry scrapyard. If I had $550,000 to throw at a one-bedroom condo I'd rather be in any of the other luxury buildings that've gone up recently or are in the works. That said I've got to believe they've done some pre-sales and aren't building purely on speculation.
 
Pictures taken today while walking around. Really making the most of this lot and nicely illustrating the value of having minimal or no set back requirements.

If these condos can be sold in a location diagonally opposite the homeless shelter, then I will be a believer in Portland as an unstoppable force to live and work. But then again, check this out: Portland's housing prices are projected to increase at a higher rate than any other city in the country, including Austin! Wow. Forget crypto currency. Invest in Portland housing.

What's happening with the existing shelter once the Riverside space is built? I'm sure I probably read about it, but it's escaping me. If it's just going away then it will only be diagonal from the homeless shelter in the short term.
