Same private partnership with American Campus Communities that created Light View. This time on the parking lot near Ruggles parking lot.

-Will deliver on the 1000 bed commitment from the 2013 IMP
-Will be used to pull students from other buildings on campus to return back to the market and increase housing opportunities for Boston residents

Nice surprise. This area is filling up. Would have been to get this added density along with tremont crossing but hey...

As per pages 28 and 34 of the PDF, it's 299' plus a significant looking mechanical penthouse on top. So it's probably about 330'.
 
Interesting that they brought up the Punter's Pub lot in here. Also found it strange that the main entrance won't be on the Columbus Avenue side, but on the side of Melnae Cass. NEU hasn't really gone past Columbus thus far aside from the odd LP for housing for a few students.

Academic/Office 115,300 sf
Retail/Café 2,800 sf ±
Total Gross Floor Area 525,000 sf
Parking No on-site parking
Building Height 26 stories (299 feet) Parcel Area 32,382 sf

If this is built Northeastern would vacate all leased apartments including Douglas Park. The net increase in on campus housing would be about 175 beds. The timeline would have this built simultaneously with the EXP.

Yeah, that would be a totally different project. It sounds like the current Punters/Pizza building would be demolished and a "temporary" one story building built there.
 
I really like the massing and facade of this. It still manages to look tall even with the horizontal spandrels at each floor plate because the proportion of the volumes are dominant in the vertical.

It seems to me that their current plan is to build this and EXP at the same time to finish the "South Campus" portion of the IMP.

With ISEC, LightView, Carter Playground, the track crossing, and eventually EXP and 840 Columbus, that should neatly wrap up all the projects NEU had in mind for "South Campus", with the exception of the random building in Robinson Quad, which is in all honestly more East Campus. In doing so, they'll be able to present to the community how they've transformed Columbus Avenue and almost using that as bargaining chips to get some of the future projects streamlined.
 
If NU can somehow pull this off,
they'll climb two rungs up on the ____ing amazing ladder.
 
Here’s a look from the Renaissance parking garage of the plot of land they intend to use it this actually goes through and is approved. This used to be the site of the Lightview leasing office before it was carted off a month or so ago.

Not entirely... Per the PNF, the first 5.5 floors of the new tower will be University Space (classrooms) and amenity space. Heightwise, that means residence hall beds won't begin until the 6th floor of the building, which in effect is roughly the 7th floor of the admin building.

There will be a loading bay separating the new residence hall from the Renaissance Park building, which will ultimately keep people from looking too much onto each other. My office window has a similar view into some Emerson College dorm space... I assure you it's very boring.

Does anyone know where exactly these 800 beds in smaller Fenway apartment buildings are? Are there entire apartment building in the Fenway that Northeastern currently fills and will vacate once this new building is complete? Or does Northeastern have leases on apartments more spread about in various buildings that they'll no longer renew?

Thanks - it looks like those "Master Leased Property Program" addresses will be the approximately 800 beds NEU will vacate.

Moving those units into the general housing stock will be a win for the city, even if Northeastern students still end up living in some portion of them.

And let me tell you as someone who has been in several of those "Leased Properties", they are the absolute roughest of Northeasterns housing stock, no students will be missing them. They are dark, dingy, and several of them are directly above restaurants which means smelling bad and rats. Thankfully never lived in them but go through them regularly, not a great pic but here's a hallway in 313 Huntington, it's not terrible but it's still crazy expensive and far below the standards students expect from University housing.
