The more I see the Seaport being built out the more I think that they should have looked at a Red Line extension/relocation as a more serious option.

Yup, and the Ted should have had a third tube, carrying the Red Line to Logan.

Na not like that. I just mean moving the Red out with an extra stop in the Seaport and a relocated Broadway closer to the heart of Southie.

Make no small plans, Van...

Those giant parking garages at Alewife and Quincy would make even better sense, and the Red/Blue Connector would be (somewhat) unnecessary.

Yeah but you'd kill Braintree and Alewife service levels. The RL can't take any more branching.

The giant parking garage at Alewife makes plenty of sense, considering it regularly fills up during work hours!

It makes me chuckle, when I look at Boston like that, how we are here arguing about the heights of buildings and don't take time to realize that Boston is a city that almost every other city in the US wishes it could be a fraction as great. Boston pulls off the big city with a small town feel (or maybe the other way around) while most other places can't. Be grateful for what you have.

b-b-b-but Boston has only completed one 600+ foot tower in the last 30 years, tied with freaking Omaha!

BOSTON = OMAHA :confused:

That's Egelston Sq if anyone is wondering. Not much of a thought about place since the Orange Line doesn't stop there anymore. Great infill housing though. This is the stuff that doesn't make it on the board but it's the neighborhoods of Boston which make this city so special.

Looking at that there are so many short stubby buildings along Comm Ave and Newbury Street. WE NEED TO BUILD TALLER TO BE A REAL CITY.

Nothing against Omaha, as I believe it's a very nice mid-size Midwestern city; but it's NOWHERE near Boston. (I do very much like the First National Bank tower, though. Very nicely done.)

I grew up 3 hours northwest of Omaha and we visited and shopped in Omaha like someone from Newton might go shopping at the Pru. 3 hours was not a great distance in Nebraska and there is not another large city unless you head west to Denver.

Metro Omaha is about a million people. Boston is four times that.

Clearly. Ditto for kz's Omaha statement.

Odurandina, that 2nd one is quite old, from late 2009. It's actually pretty cool to realize just how much has been built since then, linking Longwood towards downtown via Fenway and Huntington.

CSTH, those 2 pictures are really amazing! Did you take them yourself? Were you in a helicopter?
