Bill Russell Bridge | North Washington St.

Looks okay. I'm hoping they will slap a double-track light rail line down the middle of it someday, and be stout enough to handle the loading.

Isn't there supposed to be a bus lane? Throw some tracks on there and make the buses and LRT share the ROW and we'll really be cooking with gas...

What about a bus that drives over cars!

That monstrosity turned out to be a big Chinese investment scam. It was never meant to work (and it can't really turn corners).

I keep posting a thread update with photos/construction plans and it keeps disappearing. Any ideas why?

Looks & sounds like another years-long Big-Dig-style project!!:eek::mad:

Am I reading this right? They're projecting this projected to take a whopping 54 months?

Whats wrong with that?

The Big Dig gave rise to World Class Boston.

Good riddance to the Old Boston of stagnation, Louse Day Hicks, Whitey Bulger and the Angiulos.

This project looks like a beautiful walk from Charlestown to the Garden for games. Easier bike and pedestrian access between the North End and Charlestown for tourists will have multiple benefits for hotels and keeping traffic off the roads.

I sure hope this “architectural trellis” is not pre-approved, too. Looks like a cheap knockoff of the Calatrava WTC station. Which is kinda cool looking, but also kind of pointless...

The T switched to the “rip the bandaid off” full station closure model with Government Center. Given the slog that the Longfellow turned into, the DOT should look at that approach for this project.

Mods are probably deleting them because they are too large. Try to keep pix below 1800px in either direction. If you are using imgur, append a "h" to the end of the string before .jpg.

Please do try to repost though. I would like to see the plans.

Don't you mean that it gave rise to even MORE traffic headaches & crappy conditions, along with ridiculously long traffic delays? Cause that it exactly what happens. Try driving on it in the afternoon.

I avoid going that way at all costs!! all they did was take all the damn problems that were upstairs & put them downstairs!!

Would it be super expensive to build a temporary bridge next to it for peds/bikes and bus traffic? Then they'd be able to do a full closure of the main bridge and build it faster?

In the era of quicker phones/laptops and unlimited data plans I don't think large pictures matter as much as they used to.

Could they at least paint the trellis black or dark green? The renderings look like Miami.
