Bill Russell Bridge | North Washington St.

The screen looks.... very bad. Sloppy and cheap.

Funny I walk across the bridge daily and haven’t heard anyone say “I really wish they had invested more in the part you don’t see, I really enjoy navigating the electrical panels in the middle of the sidewalk on the north end side.”

It is the part that you see. It’s the architectural fascia.

My point is that they couldn’t build a functional bridge let alone an aesthetic one. Very few people will see the facing sufficient resolution to notice. Meanwhile you literally need to walk single file in order to walk onto the bridge from the north end side because they “value optimized” the electric panels placement. After all, bridges are design for transportation…

I think we can possibly all agree this is one development/project that is a complete success.
I do slightly miss the fear of bridge collapse on my daily run across it.

The little viewing bump out in the center is nice - I wish more bridges had them. Both for the natural inclination to stop for the view/photos and just to take a tired break at the top.
