Boston Landing | New Balance Complex | Brighton

Could the soccer field not have fit there?

It probably could of and it would have made sense for NB. NB isn't a huge player in terms of market share for soccer equipment, they are much more of niche brand so it would have been great for them to have a stadium on their campus. However, Adidas sponsors the Revs and who knows what that relationship entails.

Nah, the site is too small.

This is a 200 meter track going in (same as the Reggie Lewis Center and the various college indoor tracks), not a 400 meter track. A stadium with a full-size soccer pitch would need a site about 1.5x the size of this at a minimum.

“Concert promoter planning 3,500-capacity space at massive mixed-use development”

-This fits perfectly between lower end venues like house of blues 2500 and Fenway theater 5,000.

“As for that “The Track at new balance,” that part of Boston Landing is due to include ground-floor retail, a hydraulically-banked 200-meter indoor track, and seating for up to 5,000—and, now, a music club.”
“Construction is scheduled to start in April, with an opening anticipated in fall 2021. ”

Hell yes, so starting in a couple weeks. This is great news. Id imagine this will kick off other parts as well like the hotel, and the last parcel between Auerback and Warrior. Which in turn should get the other parcels going.

So Id imagine the design is going to change to reflect the addition of the theater?

This is great news! Also don't forget about the new music venue Live Nation is building by the Garden with a 1,500-2,000 capacity.

Forgot about that. Lots of important things happening in the city not only developmentally but culturally as well. Seaport Square also has plans to fill out the lower end some more too with 3 performing arts facilities with seating for up to 800 people.

And the Globe article on this confirmed the hotel is still planned for this development.

I think this entire development is awesome... and there’s so much more planned for the area. Beyond that, it will be interesting to see the 20 year impact on the surrounding neighborhood; right now it’s like an island and pretty disconnected, but will be cool when there’s more mid-size developments that will inevitably slowly accumulate between Brighton Ctr and this.
