How about just keeping the red triangle and removing "CITGO"?

Well, it's still a symbol of the company. Flip it upside down and we can pretend it represents Star Trek!

I’m glad its being kept as is, but when googling boston citgo sign its interesting that the sign with citgo swapped out for boston shows up multiple times.

Its kind of interesting and it looks fine, but the original is best imo. Maybe if there ever was a large public backlash against the sign that could be a happy medium, but I really dont see that happening any time soon. It also may cause copyright infringement, not sure.

-Also Ive tried finding renders showing what it will look with the new placement of the sign, but havent been able to find anything. It would be nice if they put out something showing this change.

I've always wondered if Delta would take it over some day if Citgo backed out. Especially now that Delta is the largest airline in Boston.

Plans to relocate Boston's landmark CITGO sign get final approval

The last phase in moving the CITGO sign over Kenmore Square, one of Boston's most recognizable modern landmarks, is underway after getting final approval from the city.

The sign will be positioned 30 feet higher and 120 feet to the east to restore and preserve the original view corridor, ensuring it can be enjoyed by the public from its permanent home in Kenmore Square.

Piece by piece, the 60-foot-by-60-foot sign will be moved and anchored to new, custom footings recently installed on the roof of the Beacon Street building. Planning for the sign's future began in 2018 and involved the review of several city organizations.
