Just watched a 1965 video put out by the city of Detroit to try to win the Olympics. (Failed.) Then read a description of the 1967 riot.

Jesus.

Off the top of your head, any good books to read about urban renewal in the 1950's and 1960's in Detroit, as well as maybe something from the '70's, '80's or today that has more perspective of how things went so wrong?
