This was good piece by Meredith Whitney. I agree if the rest of the cities and states don't get their act together Detroit will be their future.

#1 70's and 80's Industry left overseas (Big Problem)
Rich People started to leave. (big problem)

#2 Politicans kicked the CAN since then till now 2013. Finally Solution (Bankruptcy) even after Obama bailed out AutoMakers.
#3 Elected officials have been promising entitlments and buying votes which they will never be around to see.
#4 Detroit and 5 other Michigan cities are under emergeny management.

She says it all.

I knew you got all your economic news from yahoo finance.

Re: Hotter than Tabasco sauce: the Boston RE market

It's crazy that people love to trash this state and talk about how bad its run financially and how people are fleeing. The comment sections on Globe and Herald articles always make me laugh.

Is Mass the best run state? No. Is it in amazing financial health no? But is it in the worst position? No.

Haha so true. I just read this article and the first four comments:

http://www.boston.com/news/local/ma...ment-grants/VctiYWzrKn8kIMBA9TUbKI/story.html

I hope those four enjoy their broken sidewalks and rundown tenement buildings. It would do wonders for their property value.

Re: Hotter than Tabasco sauce: the Boston RE market

Are any of you surprised? Liberals love introducing new green technology shit. What's the difference between a honda civic and a prius? Both get the same gas mileage, but a prius is 1.5 times more expensive. Micro apartments are the same stupid concept....reduce your "carbon footprint" and pay more money for it.

Re: Hotter than Tabasco sauce: the Boston RE market

I didn't realize Toyota was a US government operation. The communist conspiracy spreads...

There's an ass for every seat.

Well Mr. Stephen Hawking, it appears you forgot that federal and some state governments give tax credits for companies that make "green technology." Dopes that buy this stuff also get tax breaks.

Re: Hotter than Tabasco sauce: the Boston RE market

Hmm, well I guess it's good then that they don't give subsidies to Exxon, Monsanto, etc. Only "liberal" products get tax credits in America.

Which is stupid. And you're the decider of what qualifies as stupid.

Fine. Liberals are stupid. They're evil and are responsible for all that's terrible in the world. Kill them all.

Happy? Now can this message board stop being a venting venue for your and TheRifleman's political rantings?

Re: Hotter than Tabasco sauce: the Boston RE market

Hmmm the Civic/Prius analogy was pretty cogent....

As you discover when studying microeconomics, or by just walking around in the world, different people fulfill their happiness ("maximize their utility" in economics speak) in different ways. Some people may get satisfaction out of doing something that's environmentally friendly, and they're willing to give up more money for it. Ah, the wonders of human differences.

Basically, the "Civic/Prius analogy" comment from Dr. Armpit said the following: "Some people are environmentalists. They get satisfaction from doing things that I wouldn't do. They're stupid. People who are different from me are stupid."

Some people may get satisfaction out of doing something that's Politically friendly, and they're willing to enrich themselves & their friends with our money especially through rules & regulations. "Ah, the wonders of human differences."
Brings your communist theory back into play.

As for these MicroUnits costing 2100 dollars a month. I guess if the Location is HOT enough then people will pay for it. Look at NYC

Re: Hotter than Tabasco sauce: the Boston RE market

Brings your communist theory into play.

Not sure if you mean this directly at me, or in a general sense. If it's directed at me, I don't have a communist theory. Also, I'm not a communist. Economically speaking, I'm fairly centrist (admittedly more liberal on social issues). Sorry to burst your bubble.

If you're speaking in a general sense, I don't know that corruption is limited to one particular economic model. Power corrupts, and all that jazz. It hardly matters if the man is a senator, banker or priest. To the extent that government is complicit in this corruption, then I'll stand side-by-side with you in opposition to the corruption.

Re: Hotter than Tabasco sauce: the Boston RE market

ARENT THERE 1290701957318407 forums to rant about absurd political shit? Fuck, we even have the presidential election thread shitshow to contain that. Prius's and liberals have nothing to do with the topic. Start a new thread.

But Tobasco sauce is only deemed hot by liberals!!! This thread must have been created by a Prius-driving idiot!!

Re: Hotter than Tabasco sauce: the Boston RE market

You know what's funny? Even the conservative parties in other countries such as Canada and the UK would be deemed as liberals by these two.
