Dyer Wharf | I-195 District | Providence

I believe I just recently saw something that demolition has begun on the small red brick building to the right of this proposed development. Just found the source to confirm:

RI Energy Demolishes Riverfront Building in Providence

RI Energy is demolishing one of two brick structures along the Providence River downtown. According to tax records, the existing property at 144 Dyer Street was built in 1900 as a warehouse.
I walked by this site yesterday for the first time in a while. The small building shown in the rendering (144 Dyer) isn't being demolished. It's this smaller building in front of it (160 Dyer, according to google maps). According to the rendering, it looks like it was always going to come down and become green space. Based on the photos in the April article, and the progress I saw yesterday, the demo is slow going (but progressing). I wonder if the "investigation" the go local article references held things up a bit? Not sure what that was all about.

It doesn't look like there's any activity on the new construction yet.

Went by the parcel 14 site today and it appears that site prep may be taking place. The area is fenced and there is heavy machinery there.

I had the same thought when I first saw that fencing, but now I'm not sure that's for Dyer Wharf. Parcel 14 is across the street from the park. That fencing and job site are in the park. Maybe it's staging, but if I had to guess, I'd say it's not affiliated with Parcel 14. Would love to be wrong though.

Confirmed that this is electrical work related to the pavilion.

Thats an incredible amount of work just for electrical wow.

I'm not an electrical engineer so I'm not exactly sure what I was listening to lol. But I think it's a transformer that's essential for the pavilion. My understanding is that it will also be utilized by future construction in the area (like Dyer Wharf) which is why it seems so overbuilt for just a single, small project.

Just walked by and they have like 100 bollards around whatever electrical thing is going on. But, there is fencing around parcel 14/15 site as well. 195 meeting this week said they were getting financing together and got some sort of tax credit situation secured. Hopeful thinking but would love if phase two is something also in the works near term.
