Eli Lilly IGM | 15 Necco Street | Fort Point

Great view! Reminds me of one of the biggest swings in misses in the history of this city in the Radian. From what we lost to what was originally proposed and the reasons for dulling it down, just an utter debacle

...Also, a small point but one that's cropping up across Fort Point, this building is being advertised as "in the Boston Seaport"...

"We don't want labs in our neighborhood!"
"Hey, how come you're not giving us credit for having labs in our neighborhood!"
🤔
(I jest!)

Not sure what the neighbors think, and they've certainly been vocal about a lot of projects, but more of a commentary that Seaport as a "brand" seems to be growing and swallowing up Fort Point. Whoever is getting credit doesn't really matter, but it's a bit funny to see the painstakingly landmarked neighborhood get passed over in favor of the...divisive area next door.

See, for example:

Various real estate listings - https://www.compass.com/listing/346-congress-street-unit-606-boston-ma-02210/1617048943373601145/

Anyways, hoping this allows for the Channelside development on the adjacent parking lot to get started soon.

If living by the Nashua Street Jail ever became desirable there'd be blocks of the West End and Bulfinch Triangle marketed as "Jailside". If it's trendy, they'll run with it.

Not that I think it makes much difference in this case - the two neighborhoods are close enough that it's natural to expect some bleed over. I'll start fretting when they start claiming places on West Broadway as "the Seaport".

Lilly has landed. Boston should be thankful for it. One of the more stable biopharma global companies that tend to plant roots and grow from within.

Just to be clear, plug in "Seaport" in Apartments.com and you definitely get properties on West Broadway and even further south!

Marketing and reality are two different things...whodathunkit!?

I am sure that when the old world charm of cozy red bricked Fort Point suits marketing purposes, that is used generously as well.
Yet when the glossy/glitzy/high-tech/uppitiness of Seaport is a better match, voila, we're in Seaport.

I think what we learned from this is: definitely don't trust marketers to be geographers.
