Encore Boston Harbor Casino | 1 Broadway | Everett

Re: Wynn Everett Casino | Everett

If anyone expected anything other than Vegas faux elegance kitsch, they’re going to be disappointed.

Re: Wynn Everett Casino | Everett

Give Wynn a lot of props he is spending the money to make this area better for Everett.

Re: Wynn Everett Casino | Everett

But what about the TAX BREAKS.

I actually don’t think he received any—

I thought Monsanto was liable for 50million if the cleanup of the land.
Overall Wynn has been buying all the properties near the line for generous prices.

He paid off Somerville. This developer seems to be actually giving back to the community

Think of all of the TAX BREAKS he received in Vegas. Think of the TAX BREAK Trump gave him.

The sad part is he purchase land that was contaminated by Monsanto which is very bad for the public. My theory is a lot of people got sick that lived in this area when Monsanto factory was dumping the chemicals into the ground. Tough to prove today without some facts.

What did Liberty Mutual do? the political leaders gave almost 50 Million dollars in incentives to and insurance company to build in the Backbay with under 5% vacancy in that area at the time claiming they had to do it because Liberty Mutual threaten to leave. BAD DEAL---Giving prime property away---At least they did build a beautiful building in the backbay.

I'm not sure what WYNN did in Vegas but on what WYNN is doing he is really trying to make an amazing place. I was not crazy about the casino and am still very weary of the traffic constraints of the surrounding areas of Boston. But at least WYNN is dumping tons of money to make the area better.

Looking at this development rise from nothing is telling me this is going to change Everett and those surrounding areas forever.

I find it funny that you're making serious replies to my trolling/mocking

Re: Wynn Everett Casino | Everett

If this ends up be anything more than a stadium with a large parking lot and some waterfront grassland with a few asphalt paths running through it, I will be pleasantly surprised. And even so, putting a high school stadium on waterfront property is poor planning regardless how it's paid for or how nice the landscaping is around it.

Good planning would be to also make sure there is enough room for a new high school or junior high adjacent to it.

With the increasing costs of constructing ball fields and parks (in the multi-million dollar range) and disruption when they are under construction it would be good to have sufficient land simply landscaped adjacent to playing fields and schools for rebuilding schools every 50 years or so. Everrett simply doesn't have enough existing public land to rebuild schools and playing fields with minimal disruptions.

I don't see why a waterfront high school stadium itself is not good planning. A well designed stadium with good park landscaping could bring more people down to that section of waterfront than would a couple hundred people living there in apartments ever would. The devils in the details though.

A good public space, especially waterfront, can help anchor and promote good redevelopment. The next step would likely be to redevelop some of the remaining nasty old rust belt style industrial along the waterfront to lighter industrial style and some well positioned non-conflicting mixed use.

Light industrial part of the area already has a good brewery (Night Shift Brewing) and a few other good businesses... and I have to say smells great around Teddie Peanut Butter. An opportunity to really use the Wynn money for good use over the next 15 years or so.

Yes. May I add Bone Up Brewery and Short Path Distillery - each across the street from Night Shift. Come here on a warm weekend day/night and the area is packed.

Re: Wynn Everett Casino | Everett

How close is this thing to topping off?

Re: Wynn Everett Casino | Everett

Was driving through Everett yesterday. Could not believe how much its changing. Hotels popping up on Revere Beach parkway.

Crazy..........Housing prices are going bananas in Everett now.

Everett was changing but the WYNN casino was a gamer changer for the city.
I'm still very negative on how the surrounding cities deals with the traffic scenario when this place open.

If Wynn is able to stay open late and serve drinks, Most likely Boston nightlife might have to adjust in the future.

It looks like they have built 18 stories out of 26, plus there are approximately 2 more floors worth of mech across the top, plus about 2-3 more floors on top of that for the swoop corner with the Wynn logo. This thing is going to be an absolute monster. It already is.

Re: Wynn Everett Casino | Everett

Today's news shouldn't impact this development, but the stock is sure taking a beating.
