Encore Boston Harbor Casino | 1 Broadway | Everett

I was hoping that while they work out the whole pedestrian bridge thing that they could just have the water taxi get people across the river to and from Assembly in the meantime. Heck of a lot better than a shuttle bus.

I am certain that the Encore people have a love/hate relationship with giving people easier access from Assembly.

If people can get to the Encore easily from Assembly, then people staying in the Encore can get easy access to the restaurants and shopping in Assembly as well. The last thing the Encore people want is their guests spending a dime outside the casino property.

I don't think too many folks who are dropping hundreds on table games, fancy dinners etc. are doing car-->commuter rail-->10 min. walk-->boat-->casino.

I'll do it. Exactly once. I want to check out the boats, and every other aspect of this casino and related experiences. But generally speaking, I don't see myself doing it that way. However, it will be a huge thing for getting off property tourists to the resort. I agree with you that it's almost certainly the only reason Wynn is doing it.

Pretty sure they realize from the Vegas experience that the benefits of being part of a vibrant tourist friendly area with multiple options far exceed the downside of people having the option of walking out the door and going someplace else for a little while.

Plus casinos know how to keep people at the casino once they get them there.

Even from the assembly side, the pluses of easy access to the casino are almost certainly more foot traffic as more tourists are checking out the other side of the river.

Going over the Longfellow bridge at dusk last evening, I noticed that you can see this thing glowing bronze in the distance quite clearly.

I love the last photo.... I scanned from right to left, seeing all the familiar Boston buildings and then, bam, there is a Vegas casino. Fantastic.

I would never have thought that a hotel tower could make a set of smokestacks cool looking. Maybe I'm crazy, but I think the new Encore has actually accomplished that. (at least from the angle in those shots posted above by DZH22)

I had the same thought! Great pics. Now, can they add a ride on top/side of one of those smokestacks a la the Stratosphere in Vegas?! :)

I f*cking love the everett skyline , especially in the same frame as downtown and the bbay

Maybe it's just me, but I see the wind turbines in that picture as the more exciting part than smokestacks and casinos.

To me it seems more like Hill Valley in alternate 1985...

^ Brilliant idea..... it also looks like the perfect backdrop for a movie. Just hide the "Encore" on top, and you have: Dr. Evil's headquarters, with the adjacent factory producing all manner of earth-destroying weaponry. :)

In all seriousness, I think it looks better than the Las Vegas version. The Vegas version of the building is much taller, (631') but looks shorter than it's actual height due to the spacing effect of the horizontal tan strip between each floor. (I think someone on AB said between each floor here, and between each two floors in the Vegas version)

Looking at that last shot.... fill the whole smash with 800~900' skyscrapers. join the towns, build a huge new grid: avenues, highways, transit and call it North Boston. Who needs to call any of it Cambridge, Somerville, Chelsea, Malden, Everett anyway?

Isn't that how they should plan for the next 75 years?
