Encore Boston Harbor Casino | 1 Broadway | Everett

Some is definitely tacky. I like that random buddah hallway-still have nooo idea what thats for, the rooms, grand stair case, playing floors, and retail area.

Seriously does anyone know what that hallway is? It looks like some tomb raider shit. Its a random hallway with big ass ceiling lamps sitting on the floor on both sides and a buddha a

I'll bet it has something to do with their Spa, probably as a hallway leading to some of the spa rooms.

It's definitely the spa. They seem to not be straying from the tried and true motifs here.

But damn that Popeye is weird.

Pretty badass that you can take a commuter rail to South Station and walk right over to Rowe's Wharf, hop on one of these, and get to the casino.

Serious question: How many people will really be taking the train, then walking 5-10 min to a boat and taking a 10-15 min boat ride to ultimately drop $25(minimum) per hand of blackjack? And that route assumes you live walking distance to the train. So for most you are talking about car-->train-->walk-->boat. A nice option I suppose but probably not one that gets utilized much absent special events at the casino.

For guests, the boat ride in and of itself could be an attraction.

Also, a periodic reminder that, when thinking about transit access to the casino, employees are more relevant than guests. The same goes for places like hospitals and (to a slightly lesser extent) airports.

Are you suggesting that Wynn intends for its employees to regularly use these boats to get to and from work?

Maybe not the right place for this, but a couple related question: What is the ridership of the commuter rail for non-commuting? Also, what percentage of commuter rail riders own cars?

I imagined these boats as more of a draw for Boston residents and tourists who want to spend an evening at the casino.

Based on the number of folks who will sit on a bus for 90 minutes to Foxwoods.... probably a lot.

Um. I take the bus to Boston. It brings me to South Station. Anything near South Station, including other modes of transportation, is fine by me. As long as I don't have to drive in Boston. I don't know why anyone *chooses* to drive in Boston. No one needs that kind of stress!

I think the custom boat concept is a brilliant way to contribute towards making it part of the "resort" feel. Even though it's just a boat ride,(plus a convenient option from that area) I think it will add to the excitement for those that will float in on them to the property....imagine for a moment, gliding into the new beautifully landscaped and glittering resort marina on these custom built boats, with the anticipation of the exciting time that awaits you......you know, like at Disney in Orlando, where you board a boat or a tram to arrive at the Magic Kingdom....you have entered a fantasy world. It's all designed to take our money and everyone knows that, and that's ok because it's an escape from reality for a little while that many people enjoy now and then.

Would be great if these water taxis are cost competitive with other options. I could see tourists or even locals looking for an option taking these shuttles between stops in Boston harbor.

I could see a system where Encore charges everyone up front, but then comps you for the water taxi when you get to the casino.

I just care about the buffet.

How big will it be, how much will it cost, and whats the fastest way to get to it

You got it jass, let's eat!......It should be be good. I haven't eaten Wynn's buffet in Vegas, but did try an Italian restaurant located adjacent to the La Reve water show there last year. Food was incredible. (and the show was good also)

I havent been to Vegas in years, but I remember the Rio buffet being a great value.

Rumor has it that spinach will be a featured buffet item at Encore Boston Harbor. (Popeye demands it)

Theyre just gonna go straight from Rowes Wharf to Encore so no stops. That being said I bet people going from Everett to Downtown would take it if allowed. Itd be much quicker and it brings you near transit. If Wynn buys up property n builds condo towers its a transit option for them. Im sure they want room for patrons, but at the same time they can just buy enough to fit everyone and make money from this too.

The hazardous material cleanup is a great benefit as well. This went from completely unusable to an extension of the waterfront and very nice river front park.

The main draw for this would be tourists in the downtown hotels.

which was exactly the point of my response when someone mentioned taking the commuter rail to South Station, walking to Rose Wharf and then taking the boat to the casino. While that is certainly doable, I don't think too many folks who are dropping hundreds on table games, fancy dinners etc. are doing car-->commuter rail-->10 min. walk-->boat-->casino.

Depends... I could see the water taxi being preferable enough to the other options for the last mile that people would go a slight bit out of the way for it. I mean they look like a really nice way to get there versus Uber, or Orange line or pretty much any other way.

I was hoping that while they work out the whole pedestrian bridge thing that they could just have the water taxi get people across the river to and from Assembly in the meantime. Heck of a lot better than a shuttle bus.
