Encore Boston Harbor Casino | 1 Broadway | Everett

Re: Wynn Everett Casino | Everett

I like the tower even if it's a Vegas duplicate. The rest of it though...ack.
On the bright side, Bollywood will soon have a US location to film it's campy, over the top musicals.

Re: Wynn Everett Casino | Everett

Wynn was quoted yesterday to say that entire families can come and spend a full day at the Wynn Boston Harbor without seeing a single gaming machine [unless they wish to do so]

He's talking the luxiest family-oriented resort hotel in the US outside of Las Vegas -- we'll have to see of course

I hope so because that is what I hate about Vegas. You want to go to an art museum or a bar? Oh well just be sure to weave your way through 3250 slot machines to get there. Its here don't worry. That being said I think this is still a benefit to the city to have another place of entertainment like this.

Re: Wynn Everett Casino | Everett

One thing I will say positive for WYNN. WYNN is going to make a fortune on this development

When I visited the wynn it took me forever to find the casino portion. Lots of cool flower arrangements and upscale shops. The wynn was the best possible casino boston could get imo, regardless of how you feel about casinos. And the guy has roots in New England, he's not going to do a bait and switch here. He wants to make his mark here at the same time as making money. You could not say the same of mgm or Caesars.

Re: Wynn Everett Casino | Everett

Very true actually. I stayed in the riviera because as a marine the air force doesnt want you wreaking havok on their base... So they put us in the riviera. We were right next to the Wynn and now that I think of it you definitely had the gambling heavy areas but we were able to go to the ferrari museum very easily. The mirage was my favorite destination by far because it felt like the sistine chapel in there with the replica ceilings and it had an art museum with authentic davinci artwork.

Im kind of going off topic but I definitely think the Wynn had the least forced gambling as you walked around in there. At the end of the day though it is good to have a venue like this. Keep that gambling money in mass, gain a world class hotel with ferry service, entertainment venues, add to the "subpar" Boston nightlife. This is just another stop on Bostons trip to the future.

Another thing I have noticed that is not thaat important but I figured I would share are a lot of players that we want to bring onto Boston sports teams dont think this city is enough of a destination to land top talent. I think this can even be another piece in that aspect along with the many other developments for making this a more attractive option for free agents. Obviously this is lower on the list of reasons but this is a sports town after all and if it can help there that too would be a plus.

We're still talking about a decorated slots parlor in Everett, next to the train tracks between a Costco and a power plant, right?

+1..... I think you're minimizing but its still funny

Re: Wynn Everett Casino | Everett

I thought this was a true casino with table games and such? Your point about the location still stands though.

Re: Wynn Everett Casino | Everett

In the near future, does anyone else think that Wynn might be the driving force behind later closing of bars? The guy has money and I can't see him sitting idle while his patrons can't drink while they play poker at 2:30am.

Funny, but you've been to Vegas right? Vegas is almost as glamorous as Everett a block or two away to either side of "The Strip".

Isn't that up to Everett?

Re: Wynn Everett Casino | Everett

I may be mistaken but I believe that it is a statewide law which requires all bars to close by 2am.

Re: Wynn Everett Casino | Everett

I've been to Wynn/Vegas recently, and he definitely does things first class. Some of the best food I've ever had, and his water show La Reve (The Dream) was very impressive. His Everett casino renders show a similar concept to Vegas. I'm not sure about the $27 mil Popeye sculpture though, I don't get it at all. I can think of much better uses for $27 million. The ultra-modern looking hotel tower really clashes with the Verdi-green domed casino buildings as well. This is probably because he has the last word over the designs, and adds/subtracts whatever he wants. (whether it "works" or not) Note to Steve Wynn if you're reading this: Classy turns to tacky very easily.

Rumor has it he recently turned down an offer of $60 million for the statue. http://lasvegassun.com/vegasdeluxe/2015/feb/11/did-steve-wynn-turn-down-60-million-popeye-sculptu/

This part of that article about the statue is my favorite:

"To keep it immaculate, the tycoon flies in two cleaning specialists from Germany twice a year for a daylong detailing, which costs him $15,000 for each man, plus travel and hotel expenses."

I think "Because I can" pretty much explains the Popeye the sailor man statue.

Does anyone know if on top of the low rise structure there will be a pool, patio, bar...like the Wynn in Vegas? Obviously minus the palm trees etc... That would actually be pretty awesome especially if the pool was heated in the spring/fall. Being able to stay in a spot like this and then hop on a ferry to downtown Boston would be amazing.

Lapradetom -- offer Steve -- "Joey fully willing to talk: -- and you probably have a deal

Note: -- remember no visible damage --- so you might think about suggesting the "impact" of a wide flat rubber paddle on the bottom of the feet

Though personally I kind of like helping Joey to contemplate the image of the chair without a complete cane seat, a pit bull, some dog food and ... well it worked well in the Bond movie

Casinos always look like kitschy crap.
