Encore Boston Harbor Casino | 1 Broadway | Everett

Re: Wynn Everett Casino | Everett

Jane Rothchild, a hearing officer for the state’s Department of Environmental Protection,

I don't want to start any conspiracy theories but should we be worried?

Re: Wynn Everett Casino | Everett

Went by this PM and counted 10 small to medium cranes, 2 slurry rigs, a pile driver and several earth movers at work on the site. They have cleared all the trees and old tracks along the MBTA row.

Construction underway!!!!

Re: Wynn Everett Casino | Everett

Now, let's get to building the thing!

Re: Wynn Everett Casino | Everett

Can a mod change the title to wynn resorts casino| everett. I tried to change it after the everett addition was added to the end but it never went through. Thanks.

Re: Wynn Everett Casino | Everett

Wouldn't it technically be Wynn Boston Harbor Casino | Everett

Re: Rose Kennedy Greenway

Boston better get something going because when this Casino is built in Everett we are about to see the Nightlife completely shift to Everett. Boston could lose a good percentage if Wynn does this right.
Everett could be open 24 hour night life.

Absolutely. There are 1,030 bars and restaurants holding liquor licenses issued by the CITY of Boston. If they don't run hard rails from the GRID down to this STRIP before the casino opens, then I bet more THAN half of them will certainly go out of business.

Sorry, but this is laughably paranoid.

I think Rifle does have a point, many nightlife institutions are being torn down in downtown Boston which might attract more people to spend their nights in outer neighborhoods like Everett. Nightlife in Boston is lacking compared to peer cities.

Anybody who chooses a casino in Everett over Downtown Boston will not be missed by Boston.

Re: Rose Kennedy Greenway

^^ Perhaps, but I'm sure their money will be.

The casino will dominate the nightlife and Boston might be beautiful but if your looking for action, girls, and great time. You're not going to Boston. You're going to Everett Casino.

If Wynn goes all out and decides he will make this a gambling parlor, along with a nightclubs across the board for all age groups this guy hit a GRANDSLAM for this development. Just close enough to Boston that makes this an instant winner.

Instant net profit of a Billion for this one development when this gets built.

This may be true for people in Everett or nearby communities on Route 1 corridor, but I disagree the nightclubs and restaurants here will be a regular draw for people in Boston, Cambridge, Brookline, etc.

Re: Rose Kennedy Greenway

Like I said WYNN will need to build out towards the nightlife:
Music Venue (A list performers)
5-10 bars/Nightclubs/lounges different for all walks of life.
I'm not sure what the laws up but if Everett determines 24 hour nightlife it's over for Boston.

If your a group of guys looking to have fun why would you go to Boston?
Unlimited amounts of Women at the casino.
I'm saying Boston will take a 50% hit for nightlife.

This will be WYNN best casino in the world. This is a no-brainer because of proximity of Boston.
The city is CRAVING A REAL NIGHTLIFE.

Re: Rose Kennedy Greenway

Boston bars and restaurants that cater to "nightlife" are not starving for customers or money. The industry is shaped by the severe supply restrictions imposed by liquor licenses, so you end up with a few huge players who operate nearly every "nightlife" spot in the city. This, combined with super high rents, make it very hard for any new/independent/unique venues to open. There is plenty of demand out there to chase, the problem is the high barriers to entry on the supply side. I see an increase in supply as a healthy thing for Boston's nightlife environment, not a risk. A casino that siphons even a tiny little slice of the "casino club crowd" out to Everett will open up tables and bar tabs for other patrons who were turned off by that crowd in the first place.

Sorry for the tangents...

Re: Rose Kennedy Greenway

let's be real, Boston has nothing to worry about with regards to the casino. That place is going to be chock-a-block full or north shore trash and what not. Some of whom would have gone to Boston, yes. But no one living in the Boston area wants to go Everett, no one. And people in the area aren't dumb automatons who are going to salivate at the idea of blowing money in some ugly squat casino complex in a shit town.

Re: Rose Kennedy Greenway

Did people forget that Wynn scaled down the nightclub portion of this development? Citing restrictions around closing time, happy hour etc, he is devoting space to other revenue generating activities. They'll be plenty of restaurants. He will take some Boston business but the city needs more options so this is a good thing. As for north shore trash the casino is much closer to north end, beacon hill, downtown, Charlestown, Somerville, east Cambridge than people think...you could practically walk from some places.

Fantastic analysis!
