well explained and great pix (as per usual).

as the exterior gets (slowly) finished 1 dalton is becoming more and more of a stunner. i was just there on wednesday and up close it's gorgeous.

definitely a daytime-view building, though. all the subtle touches and the overall shape get completely lost after dark. and, yes, i am one of those who likes some degree of night lighting on most highrises/skyscrapers and miss even the small tree logo thing.
 
pictures and solid development news are the life-blood of this site. Many of us who have posted pictures over the years understand and appreciate the major efforts involved in getting the shots, culling, uploading and posting.

To clarify: my comments about "redundancy" were about the recurrent height-related arguments, not about the photo sets. Count me in as one who really appreciates the photos and the associated effort.

This is a good idea. They use it on Skyscrapercity and it beats the heck out of a page full of "nice picture!" posts. It's an unobtrusive way to validate someone's efforts. Not just pictures either. For instance, when equilibria links to project pdf's, or datadyne rips the key points, or stick gathers the renders, these are invaluable contributions to this site and thank you for the updates!

For what it's worth, and as a long-time lurker/one-time poster who's gone fairly quiet, I really appreciate you posting pics of activity around town. Thanks, sincerely. Please, keep it up.

In my own professional life, folks like you help when folks like me when we need to research the evolution of a building/block/neighborhood, so as to better understand the historical use and context of a place slated to undergo renovation/restoration.

^^assuming you're referring to DZ's above shot/s. His mystery spot, and that other place he shoots (i think Belmont Hill?) suggests there is a great place to fly a drone–that a good, enhanced shot of Boston's drawn out, malnourished skyline is there to be had: probably a mile or 2 south of Belmont Hill, similar to these above shots, but just closer in. My completely harmless suggestion that drones produce the more flattering, aerial shots of Boston (vs aircraft photos) triggered more boisterous, buffoonery from the aB peanut gallery. Whatever.

Above pics are from Doublet Hill in Weston. My other "mystery spots" are probably either Robbins Farm Park (close to Belmont Hill) or Hattie Symmes Park, both in Arlington.

Others that get some regular visits are Horn Pond in Woburn, Prospect Hill Waltham, and Mt Auburn Cemetery in Watertown.

It looks bad from the north east, which the back bay always has because of the Hancocks fat side. So in that case its fine. One good thing Im noticing is that shot is becoming more and more blocked by North Station tower, Hub residential, office tower, and soon the garden garage tower. So thats definitely a plus.

At the exact same time though from the north west/general western view of the city (BU bridge area) the addition of 1 Dalton, though actually off set from the spine and close to the pru, lines up perfectly, appears perfectly spaced, and looks great. From the south it lines up great as well, and as head on from the west where you see this and the pru next to each other is awesome too. Luckily in real life most people are rarely in a position to be looking at the worst angle, even from the redline its not its worst angle.

Looked up today and it would appear that the plywood is finally coming down. The top balcony is clear and there are workers hanging outside the second window.
