I've been seeing the signals lit up north of Ball Square as well.

The Pearl St substation is still not connected to the grid, so we’re a while from trains running on the line.

Looks like they’re getting the Pearl St substation online…

They have sealed up the ROW and posted warning signs about live trains at every gate over the past week. I expect the T will have a test train photo op soon.

What’s the plan for stabilizing the hill between Gilman station and the Somerville buildings (hilltop)? Is it part of GLX or the city’s project?

Right now it is a crazy jumble of retaining wall, gravel, and dirt.

That's part of the Somerville High School project. Was supposed to be a parking deck with a turf playing field on top, but I think the garage got VE'ed out. It also got significantly delayed due to asbestos contamination.

Another sign of GLX progress is that the speed restriction on the Lowell Line has been nonexistent on both morning inbound evening outbound trips through GLX the past two days.

Working on removal of the access from the Central Street parking lot. I think that leaves them with the permanent truck pad at Ball Square.

The T only says “in the next few weeks” now. They have recently made a bunch of progress with the duct banks on both sides of the bridge, after months of leaving open trenches.

Any word on the adjacent medford street bridge? There was talk about maybe leaving that closed permanently and it being a home for a farmers market and other seasonal stuff. Is that the final plan?

There is a whole Gilman Square SomerVision process, that is separate from the GLX. I think the GLX contractors are working to reopen the bridge in “the next few weeks.”
