What should that park be branded? Asthma park? Highway soot park?

Rutherford Ave needs a streetwall not a park. Open space might be a good idea here, but it should be part of a natural grid and away from the road. Else it'll be another portal park

They are still in the (final) planning stages of Sullivan Square's re-design which will remove the existing rotary and design a standard street setting with traffic lights, bike lanes and pedestrian-friendly crosswalks.

I believe that they're only doing some improvements now which are related to the Casino.

^^ Indeed. Nothing says durability and quality like the 21st Century analog to balloon framing. Why we continue to build this way is a puzzle...
 
Great presentation--thanks for posting, Equilibria! I'm very excited for this. I think this and Cambridge Crossing will do a lot to sew Charlestown & (eventually) Assembly Row with the pedestrian fabric of the area.
 
The main change is that they shortened the tallest building in the development, as well as dumbed down the design (at least according to the massing). Visually, the project definitely just lost some of the "excitement" factor. Oh well it probably won't be built for 10 more years anyway.

There is zero reason to lower the heights in this location. Boston is one seriously corrupt little hamlet. Meanwhile, Minneapolis of all places, figures it out and is going for upzoning across the board.

The amount of lipstick on the pig that is 100 Hood Park Drive is astounding... The only mitigating factor is that it's entirely above ground and in a separate structure that could theoretically be redeveloped into occupiable space a la One Broadway in Kendall. Hopefully, the traffic stays bad enough or gets worse so 800+ cars don't end up entering and leaving the site each weekday. 😬
 
Is it just me or does the overhang of the building/recessed podium make the building feel so much more imposing in a way that the greenscape band-aid won't make up for? The uniform tan is insult to injury.
