I don't think our dear ol' bostonbred was stoned (or was he?), nor was the building stoned. I believe he was referring to the building being made of "stone". :)

I don't like the window sills. They almost seem... brutalist to me. They are going to create great dramatic shadow lines but I think the effect could have been achieved with something less massive. Or perhaps a different material; brownstone or granite would have sufficed.

I agree on the height too - it would have been nice to have something this width roughly as tall as the old Hancock.

Do they own the brick building next door? Why are they allowed to place windows blocking an extension of their neighbor upwards?

There's only two windows there. The ones further back are false windows. Those would allow for expansion with a setback. But really though, how common are vertical expansions, especially in an older structure like that?
