Liberty Wharf | 220-270 Northern Ave | Seaport

Re: Liberty Wharf (Jimmy's Harborside)

No, but it doesn't take merit away from this particular project.

Re: Liberty Wharf (Jimmy's Harborside)

If it exists, it's alright?

Two nice anchor buildings could be built on the two parking lots at this site that front Seaport Blvd; they would even help to frame the underutilized parks across the street.

The Liberty Wharf project is promising all the same.

Its a different lot, so it has nothing to do with this project, unless the developers "bought" spaces for their customers to use.

Re: Liberty Wharf (Jimmy's Harborside)

Looks like they've "topped out."

I don't understand how LTK can continue operating with a Legal "flagship" restaurant across the street.

If there was enough traffic/residents in the area it would almost seem perfect. They put something new and exciting on the menu... it takes off and becomes a hit... return customers find it's off the menu.... what happened? "Oh that is only available across the street now, we are just the test kitchen." Kind of the point of a test kitchen isn't it?

As of right now, and the amount of people there when there is no major convention, I agree. How can the 2 co-exist. It'll be another year until the restaurant is up and running, so we'll see how much the market rebounds. But, the fact remains. The neighborhood needs residents.

I felt the same way when Mortons opened up. "How can this place exist? It's only gonna have a lunch crowd." But everytime I've been there for dinner it's been surprisingly full. I guess that's thanks to morons like me hauling my ass across town for a steak.

Re: Liberty Wharf (Jimmy's Harborside)

More restaurants = more people. There not a set amount of people that now have to chose between the two. Instead, people say "lets go to legal" see the test kitchen and say "lets try that next month" resulting in a repeat visit that would not have existed previously.

It also puts the area on the map of more people. Instead of "where should we eat downtown" its "where should we eat in the seaport district?"

Likewise, fan pier WILL add to the area. The main tenant is a lawyer group....most of them do NOT work 9-5, and even the ones that do might visit the establishments that they wouldnt have in the past. Client meeting at the test kitchen for example, or after works drinks at the beer garden.

No, they won't work 9-5, they'll work 10-2(AM), and will probably order in most of their meals.

Also, I don't know how cheap Boston firms are, but in New York clients would not be taken to a place as middling as Legal. In all likelihood they would travel for these meetings.

^^

Yeah, I thought people stopped bragging about all-nighters after freshman year of college. That was until I interned at a law firm.

Re: Liberty Wharf (Jimmy's Harborside)

Same for architecture school. I can't tell if they're bragging and I should be jealous, or if they're trying to scare me away, or both.

I've been to the SBW Morton's twice for lunch since it opened (definitely not on my own dime), and both times it was surprisingly empty. Hopefully at dinner time it fills in a bit.

I didnt even know there was one there. I was tempted to go to the fenway one....but too pricey

Re: Liberty Wharf (Jimmy's Harborside)

I never noticed the massport-branded streetsigns there. I like them a lot.

Isn't anyone embarassed that massport can build a city where the city can't?

Can massport build us a harbortram?

Re: Liberty Wharf (Jimmy's Harborside)

Anyone else find it funny that they built this wall at the head of Harborview Lane?
