Logan Airport Flights and Airlines Discussion

From the person who told me about this, no, no other notice, it was just on the electronic boarding pass. It led to furious googling and checking other apps to confirm, because it was a business trip with almost no time to spare for a morning flight and getting from A to E (even with the shuttle) could’ve ruined the trip.

Next tweet in the thread suggests it is possible it will replace the current Air Canada flights. I am flying YHZ-BOS in August and will be interested to see if the booking gets shifted to a PAL flight.

Etihad going daily on Boston-Abu Dhabi as of 11/2/24.

Also JetBlue's frequent flier program allows earning and burning points on Etihad.

Have to go down to NYC for a bit and decided to check out Tailwind's pricing on a whim... Their website seems to have been stripped bare. Anybody know if they've officially cancelled the seaplane service?

JetBlue has been chosen as the EAS carrier for Presque Isle, Maine. They will begin flights to Boston on September 1. Initial service will be operated with E190 equipment and then upgrade to A220.

It's astonishing that B6 has totally pulled out of BTV and can't even make PWM work year-round yet they choose to pursue EAS flights to PQI. I assume a big motivation for their bid was to free up gate space at Logan by overnighting a plane at PQI and getting it back to BOS in time for a mid-morning departure bank.

I know the Northern Maine communities have long preferred flights to BOS over EWR, so I suppose this is a win for Aroostook County.

-Really comes full circle with why the FAA puts the height limits in place over downtown.
 
The flight path almost looked like it was a go-around. It was lined up for a landing on 27, but circled back to land on 22L. I assume it was a runway incursion during the first attempt.

Is there anything else that supports this? Runway incursions are quite rare. Wunderground says that the winds peaked and changed direction around the time UA688 landed so I think that's much more likely to be the cause.
 
The replies in Ari Ofsevit’s toot mention AS389 being cleared to take off on 22L at the same time as the first attempt.

FR24 shows that AS389 was taking off on 22L at the time UA688 went around. There's also the ATC recording available - scroll to minute 22 or so. Based on that I *think* they were trying to get AS389 out first, but either timed it poorly or the Alaska crew didn't expedite enough. But the ATC quality is poor enough that they could have meant after the UA flight landed. Go arounds happen everyday at every major airport; it's functionally routine - but it'll be up to the FAA to decide if it ever got inside the bubble that defines an actual incursion. (Also, note that 400ft was its lowest point of decent; it passed above government center at about 1400.)

Edit: Brattle understood the ATC traffic I couldn't parse last night - a no delay on the roll was instructed.
