Logan Airport Flights and Airlines Discussion

PLAY Airlines will be cutting service to Boston this coming September 15th. They will also be cutting service to their other US destinations - Baltimore/Washington and New York-Stewart.

Delta has set their NW25 schedule and the usual route suspensions for some of their European routes from Boston.

Dublin will reduce from 4 to 3 weekly for October 26 - January 4. - using A339 equipment. Then suspend from January 5 - March 7.
Lisbon will be suspended from January 6 to February 20.
Rome will suspend from January 6 to March 7.

JetBlue is closing its Miami station, so Boston will lose one carrier on the Miami route. Last flight will be September 2.

Seattle is also being suspending in NW25 from both Boston and JFK. No flights after October. Not sure when they will return for their summer seasonal run in 2026.

JetBlue also cut the weekly Grenada flight. On the brighter side BermudAir will fly two weekly (Wed/Sat) flights to Anguilla starting December 19.

People typically ferry from St. Maarten or connect in Miami to get to Anguilla.

Schedule
BOS-AXA 10:05-15:20 36 E190
AXA-BOS 16:10-19:50 36 E190

4 + hours on a Embraer 190!!!!!!

American to increase Florida flights!
Unfortunately it is only for 2 weeks or so around the peak Christmas season when these flights are usually $500+ per person each way. Still good for competition at that time of year I guess, although I am not confident there will be any price decreases on these routes given the flights are only for the 2 busiest/most expensive weeks of the year to travel from BOS to Florida.

Another Taiwan carrier is considering adding Boston to its route network with non-stop service from Taipei. EVA has mentioned Boston as a possible destination recently.

Logan to get new non-stop service to Brussels and Madrid

Boston travelers could soon have non-stop service to Brussels and Madrid, but previously announced plans for a non-stop flight to China may not happen until 2008, the head of Logan International Airport said today.

Swiss is going to use its new A350-900 planes on its non-stop service from Zurich. Beginning January 2, 2026, 4 of their 7 weekly flights will operate with the A359. The other 3 days will operate with the A333.

Great news, looks like BOS is the first LX market in the world to be served by the A350. I just returned from FLR via ZRH and those A333s are tired. Flew out J and back Y and they're still comfortable (particularly in Y because they're not slimline seats), but they feel their age (especially in J where they're falling behind competitors). Apart from the dated long haul fleet, Swiss is one of my favorite airlines to fly to Europe if I need to connect. ZRH connections are efficient, even with delays (and there frequently are). Plus, "Heidi" never gets old.

I believe their current order of A359s are to replace their A343 fleet. I thought I also read that they will be retrofitting all cabins of their A333 fleet beginning the end of 2025. I agree re: connections via Kloten being efficient. They have a nice expansion underway too.

They manage to maintain is pretty large long-haul network, despite having a relatively small fleet of widebodies.

I read the same thing. Their new first class suites look fantastic (they'll be on the A350s from the start). Potentially among the best in the sky, but I'll almost certainly never get to experience them. The business upgrades look good too. In line with modern standards (doors, big screens, plenty of storage, etc.). The current J seats are still pretty comfortable and spacious, but the IFE is very dated and the cabin is definitely looking a little ragged.

I'm probably an outlier, but I'm not thrilled about economy "upgrades." The current seats have a decent amount of cushion and standard pitch. They're just old. The new seats will probably be the same ultra-thin economy seats that everyone's transitioning to. I doubt it'll improve the experience beyond bigger screens. about 80% of my TATL travel is in Y, so this matters to me. They will be installing a new premium economy which, assuming it's competitively priced, might be an attractive alternative.
