That first shot really hit home the amount of development that has been completed (and is still going on) in the Boylston/Brookline Ave stretch from the Pike to the Fens since I left town over 15 years ago. I like the slow and steady pace of things and how it continues to evolve.

My Gawd----that Mass Ave surface. Will the city be paving that upon completion? That's an abomination.
Samuels is supposed to be on the hook for regrading the entire intersection and making the four corners ADA-compliant, as part of mitigation. Veolia (or whatever they're called now), also has a steam pipe expansion project going from Mass Ave/Boylston west out through Ipswich for Fenway Corners on Lansdowne, so who knows. It is particularly terrible right now. Certainly the worst in my 25 years living within spitting distance of this intersection.

Still looks like an average Boston road to me. Dont go to Somerville if that intersection turns your head

Yeah, an average Boston road in front of a new international hotel and a corporate HQ........ not to mention the terminus for Newbury Street.

Visitors from all over the globe will take home their impressions of Boston from this area.

Somerville, not so much.

(y) Thanks to bbfen for the helpful info above - - glad to see it's being taken of.

At least those of us on bike will soon be riding on nice, new, smooth asphalt. That section of Mass Ave is terrible to ride on right now, and only partly because we are forced to mingle with cars as we pass through that block.

Somerville’s roads are pretty good, imo. When I bike to the community path from my house in Medford, I can tell where the town line is by the quality of the pavement.
