The Massachusetts Association of Minority Law Enforcement Officers is replacing their headquarters. From this:

The upper floors would be compact living units. SPRA:

From the BPDA Box link: " The proposed project is mixed use, consisting of a 200+ seat auditorium, institutional support spaces, 45residential studio unitsconforming to the Compact Living Standards, primarily market-rate, with 6affordable units in accordance with the Mayor’s executive order on inclusionary development....."

Build it now
Build it now
Build it now

This is a 1+1+1 = 75 type of development. The Minority Law Enforcement Officers Assoc gets a bigger, better facility and it is paid through the rentals of the apartments and the social spaces. I love seeing developments like this.

Have you noticed all the fairly large home-grown developments around town? Off the top of my head there's this one, the subshop people on Dudley, the carwash on Blue Hill doing one across the street, and the Shanti Indian restaurant people have like 3 projects going.

That's a sign of a healthier development environment

This project is going up next to the Mattapan station. I think it’s The Loop and if so it’s going to be a pretty major development for this area. https://www.poah.org/property/massachusetts/loop-mattapan-station

More like this, please!!!!!!!!

Boston has a mission - - more housing in obvious places. This is literally at a T station!!!!! Get on it, like we're trying to beat the Russians to the moon.

if I am looking at the right thing on Google Maps, the project above was from an existing crummy looking structure that was blown up and started over. Not a bad idea.

^That was the old Hendries ice cream factory. There are a number of pics online of it back in the day.

Edit: Also it is in Milton not Mattapan

Definitely is Milton. This building is on the Mattapan/Dorchester/Milton border so I wasn't sure where it should go. Please feel free to move it to more a suitable location.

Naw, close enough. Like the New York guy said, most err... Bostonians have no idea where Mattapan is anyway.

After original plan is dropped, a unique housing proposal emerges in Mattapan
The proposal includes 265 housing units, many of them reserved for seniors, including a unique 60-unit project that would mix together seniors, foster and adoptive families, and young adults exiting the foster system.

A map of the former Boston State Hospital site, including the 10-acre portion to be redeveloped.

Original proposal

DHK prepared a Masterplan for the redevelopment of former state hospital site, to convert it into a 74 acre residential community. Plan included programming for a multi-family residential neighborhood as well as a “Village” with commercial and community uses and a city public school. A total of 400 family units were planned.

Good. There are several plots of woods in outer Boston neighborhoods that should be developed.

Didnt realize this. This is not in a great location, it's not close to transit, it's not close to anything, and it's open space. It should be left alone, not developed.
