I'm currently overseeing the reconstruction of South Elm Street on either side of this bridge (with utility replacements under it as well) as part of a MassWorks grant for the City of Haverhill that was spurred by the new mixed use development being constructed on Railroad Avenue (just to the left in the photo).MBTA To Begin Replacement Work on South Elm Bridge in July

BOSTON – Over the summer, the MBTA will begin work to replace the South Elm Bridge on the Haverhill Commuter Rail Line.
“Starting July 15th, crews will replace the “nearly 120-year-old bridge with a modern single-span structure.” Located between Bradford and Haverhill stations, this replacement work will extend the life of the bridge an estimated 75 years…..”

According to Nathan Rae, Senior Project Manager for the MBTA, in an update given to the Select Board in Winchester this week, the transit authority now plans to partially reopen the station in late September with a full reopening planned for sometime in December.
Well that didn't take long! This one from today (6/29) is only about 14 hrs after the previous one above:Kendall Square head house demo continued: glass is now gone (6/28):
New Center platform at Worcester Union opens and will be used for service starting Monday July 1st.
That station interior is beautiful. How was it laid out in the heyday of trains? Did it have seating for folks?
Luciano’s is still there, I’ve never eaten there but there seem to be quite busy with catering events at Union Station.Yes it had seats. There's photographs on Google if you search for Union Station Worcester.
It's a shame it's not more actively used... I don't know if there's restaurants in there anymore? It used to have a couple but they struggled from what I recall.
Impressive space and building. It's great Worcester was able to restore it at least.
