I do know that the towers went from ungainly pure white to ungainly tan. At the time I didn't believe it was a recladding job, but a repaint.

I believe that's accurate and I may have misspoke. The exterior was cleaned and did change color! Plus the windows were replaced. So it probably wasn't a total recladding but more of a refresher.

Just checked out 1 Cumberland on Google Maps. I would like to know how that property survived the building of the Midtown back in the 1960's. The hotel was built around it. Preservation was not strong back then. It must have been a stubborn owner who refused to sell.

I agree that the rendering looks that way, but I would be really surprised if it happens. St. Botolph is a protected historical neighborhood. You don't raze a row house without a big stink happening. We'll have to wait for the PNF to understand what they are really proposing for that side of the proposal.

Yeah this seems like a pretty high quality contextual block. Nothing earth-shattering, but reasonably scaled/articulated massing and materials.

Just about anything is better than what's there.
