I copied the posts from another older thread (about the hotel itself) into this thread.Merge them. I didn't know there were two.
I suggest all future conversation happen here.

I do know that the towers went from ungainly pure white to ungainly tan. At the time I didn't believe it was a recladding job, but a repaint.
You mean to tell me this isn't an active street wall? It's certainly a street wall...Mhmmm active street wall
I dont like the part where they say they've scaled back the retail for "amenities". I dont want the condo gym in the front window that's not helpfulMhmmm active street wall

Just checked out 1 Cumberland on Google Maps. I would like to know how that property survived the building of the Midtown back in the 1960's. The hotel was built around it. Preservation was not strong back then. It must have been a stubborn owner who refused to sell.Comparing the render to this angle of the existing conditions makes it appear that 1 Cumberland St. will be demolished.
What street is this? It certainly is not Huntington Ave.Just caught this on a south end group Facebook page https://thebostonsun.com/2020/10/15...45gqT8gm6PwPUF8nznKYhHoVEKtH94Najgegfc7e5F1x4View attachment 7783
Yes it is.What street is this? It certainly is not Huntington Ave.
I agree that the rendering looks that way, but I would be really surprised if it happens. St. Botolph is a protected historical neighborhood. You don't raze a row house without a big stink happening. We'll have to wait for the PNF to understand what they are really proposing for that side of the proposal.Comparing the render to this angle of the existing conditions makes it appear that 1 Cumberland St. will be demolished.
But oh the evil shadows!Rather than build a giant wall a nice tall tower with three stories Elsewhere is far less Disruptive IMO
That frigging Boston Globe keeps blocking stuff!! Isn't there a way around that?!!

This design seems so contextual for the area! Like a modern rendition of the brutalist block across Mass Ave from the Mother Church.
