Re: Millennium Tower - Filene's

Maybe it's to move the ground breaking up so that Menino can officiate. Filene's is pretty much the only black mark on his record(in the public eye, not ArchBoston's)

Re: Millennium Tower - Filene's

Just got a great idea for the Menino Admin. Maybe they can create another BID #2 for the downtown private businesses and just pay for Millenium Tower so they have no risk at all?

Hey isn't this is called job creation.

Re: Millennium Tower - Filene's

I visited an LL Bean outlet somewhere last year. It was memorable b/c I wrecked the bottom of my rental car and didn't tell them when I turned it in. (Please forget I mentioned this and certainly don't bring it up when I run for public office again.)

I liked the store a lot. There was a huge selection of regular clothes as well as traditional LL Bean-style clothing and lots of outdoor sports gear, etc.

I'd like it in Boston but not sure it would be as successful as I imagine some of the suburban locations are, but I can't come up with any reasons to think that way.

I have to admit a bit of me was sad when they started expanded. Part of the thrill of shopping there (and, getting presents from there when I was a child) was that it was one of a kind.

That, plus they had free shipping ... and that they were open 365 days a year (and still are ... in Freeport).

Well according to conservatives, giving tax breaks to the wealthy and big businesses will create jobs, so I guess to conservatives, yeah this is called job creation.

Actually, money handouts are liberals' wet dream too!

Giving our tax breaks or incentives to help enrich your individual friends or business associates on the backs of others is called corruption.

Giving tax breaks to all developers or certain business sectors to all corporations willing to take on the risk is called helping create jobs

Big difference

Oh my God Kent! Why? You know what bringing politics into ArchBoston does. It's like steroids for thread derailers...

I'm merely agreeing with him that this would be considered job creation across both spectrum.

Re: Millennium Tower - Filene's

^^^ These pictures are like giving the building an MRI scan. So fascinating to see all of the layers that make up a building.

Re: Millennium Tower - Filene's

Walked by today and the MBTA elevator shaft on the Shoppers Park has been surrounded with protective scaffolding.

Re: Millennium Tower - Filene's

Perhaps the Mayor's health wasn't up to it then. Anyway, unless they are planning to dig their way to China, judging by the depth of the hole the ground has already been broken.

Re: Millennium Tower - Filene's

Nice. The article mentioned that the original date was back in June. This is more ceremonial, correct? Has the project itself been delayed as well?

They've worked on the Burham Building through the entire summer, while demoing the remaining Filene's facade on Franklin Street. The site looked pretty active yesterday.

Re: Millennium Tower - Filene's

So the tower and the Burnham Building should be complete by the end of 2016 then?

Re: Millennium Tower - Filene's

I'm back in Boston, and will be out and about with my camera. I apologize for any lack of photography skill or picture quality, as well as any duplication of previously photographed material. I figured clicking away would at least add something of value. These were all taken yesterday afternoon, 8/21.

Re: Millennium Tower - Filene's

Almost done haha

Re: Millennium Tower - Filene's

I was looking through the fence on Summer, couldn't believe the floor is pretty much completely gone from the first floor of the building.
