If I lived in Boston, I would probably go watch this unfold tomorrow.

This is probably an obvious question, but do they constantly monitor the concrete in situations where the pour is happening when rain is falling?


I am curious where they will be bringing all of this concrete in from?
 
For a little more perspective, here's the foundation for a Chinese skyscraper also being poured right now and for the next couple of days, which is supposed to be 63000 cubic meters. Multiple truck are unloading at the same time and the concrete is placed through a series of ramps and pumps.

I'm debating going down. I was originally planning on it, but it's such a gross day. Hoping tomorrow might be better.

Same here. Perfect day for pouting concrete though, as long as it stays at a drizzle.

I ran by earlier. There is a gate near the Burnham that is uncovered and has good site lines into the hole.
 
Took some video Saturday afternoon, stitched it together, and threw it up on YouTube. Stood there for about 20 minutes and saw at least 5 cement trucks arrive at the site. By the time I left, two trucks were queued on Franklin Street as all 6 stalls at the 3 different pumps were already occupied.

EDIT: Hah, turns out I was filming at the exact same time as WCVB threw to Todd Kazakiewich in the field. You can see them at the 20 second mark in my video.

This project could be as big a city changer as the Pru was back in the 60's! Sorta surprised that Etaly wasn't able to secure space here, I know they were looking to find a large enough space to fit into. Would be a perfect location for them. Great pics, btw, thanks!!
 
^^I disagree about Eataly. While I think one would be great in Boston, a location at Downtown Crossing/along the Freedom Trail would cannablize business in the North End. I've been a proponent of them going a little further away like to the Back Bay or Fenway. Maybe even at Tremont Crossing.
 
Maybe I missed it but was the pour for today canceled? I walked by the area on the way to work this morning around 9:15 and didn't see any trucks. Neither did I see any when I passed by again around 4.
 
They probably finished early ... they were running ahead of schedule.
