The Federal Reserve tower is essentially at sea level. The rest of those buildings are higher ground than the Fed. tower.

But One Financial is pretty much at the same level as the Fed... maybe there's a few feet's difference but that's it. Yet DZH is totally right that it looks easily 15 feet taller than the Fed. Something doesn't add up. Here it is from a cropped shot from my recent trip to Mount Auburn:

On topic I think the mechanical on this thing should bring it up close to 675' ... that would make it clear who would be taller between this and Copley for soon to be (hopefully) future 4th tallest.

Yet DZH is totally right

Nice, we actually agree on something. Captured for posterity!

Mike, it's worth noting that in both pictures you posted, 1 Financial rises higher (in the picture) than the Fed. I would really need to see some pictures showing the opposite to ease my skepticism.

For MP (or anybody who would know), where is the line drawn between the highest occupied floor (625') and the mechanical levels above this? Tough to make a total-height estimate without this information. Thanks!

Ground level windows going in on the Burnham retail. This is getting closer and closer!

The 625' is measured to the ceiling of PH3 (Level 55). So, you can use proportions to deduce how tall the mechanical penthouse above might be. It looks to be about ~25' tall. I'd say this will top out somewhere around 650' to the roof of the mechanical penthouse.

One Financial Center has a substantial "pinnacle" adding to its height.
Official height is 590 ft. with pinnacle it is 683 ft.
hence the appearance that it is higher than the Fed at 614 ft. (no pinnacle on the Fed).

Same reason why the Pru with pinnacle is higher than the Hancock.

So for MP is 625 ft. is official height, and height with "pinnacle" is nominally 650 ft.?

The pinnacle refers to the antennae on One Financial, meaning One Financial still looks taller discounting the pinnacle. That said, I just took a walk down to South Station and I think the only angle where the Federal Reserve Building looks taller is if you look up from right under Dewey Square. Not entirely sure the reason why. From where I stood it looks like the Federal Reserve is around 6-10ft lower on the ground than One Financial. Maybe it's actually lower than that.

LOL pretty soon dogs and cats will be living together... mass hysteria! Nah but seriously I think I flogged you enough, now I never have to flog you ever again ;)

Maybe in 25 years when I start flipping out about how the skyline hasn't changed since 2020. In the meantime, I think I am about to be pacified for a good long while.

We've had this discussion a million times in this thread, but the tower is entirely cast-in-place concrete. There will be no steel.

I've joined but been away for about a year.

I did not know that this was discussed a "million times", as you put It

Apparently they are building a sales center at 50 Franklin Street, should have some neat gizmos in it.

Don't know why they don't use the one they already have down the street, but I guess they can justify the expense.

Oh wow Summer St turned out nice. It's been a loud and dusty past couple weeks over there. I like the brick pattern. I hope these will hold up to wear & tear and remain flat. The bricks in DTX are just awful for everyone to navigate, not just handicapped people.
