Millennium Partners may be from NYC, but they have had such a transformational impact on downtown Boston. To think what this area looked like 20 years ago.

Which makes the Winthrop Sq. Garage sweepstakes all the more fascinating. Several of these developers can assert that "we have done more for Boston than the other guys, just look at X." I'm looking at Trinity, HYM, and Millennium in particular, although Hudson can also point to Radian, of course (although I know many folks here would say that should be an instant disqualification...).

Millennium surely wins the argument in terms of "X total amount of SF developed within Y radius of Winthrop Sq. Garage," assuming your "Y" is less than a mile. But, when you pull back to the Route 128 scale, does Trinity overtake them? Plus, HYM might have more total SF under development, w/ Gov't Center Garage, that would cause them to overtake Millennium in Downtown overall (if not Downtown Crossing specifically).
 
^ I cant wait for all the permanent windows are actually in place on this one. Those few temporary joints are aggravating me

Skyscraper is such a strange word in Boston.

No it really isn't that is a ridiculous statement. Boston has one of the largest skylines in the country based on buildings taller than 150 meters. It definitely doesn't get as tall at its peak as other cities but the idea that it is much shorter and stumpier than other cities as a whole isn't really very accurate.

For example:
Number of Buildings over 150 m in US cities according to CTBUH (proposed counts based on SSP diagrams)

NYC - 241 (374 with proposed)
Chicago - 116 (141)
Houston - 34 (43)
Miami - 33 (114)
LA - 23 (38)
SF - 21 (31)
Dallas - 20 (33)
Boston - 19 (28)
Atlanta - 16 (24)
Seattle - 15 (30)

Based on that Boston fits in right where I would expect and is 7th in the country overall currently.

The order here changes some, but an interesting takeaway is that Boston has more tall buildings as a whole than Dallas yet is seen as lacking. I think part of it is the composition of the buildings and the plateau effect downtown, but regardless my point is that the perception of Boston as having a small skyline for its size is inaccurate.

tldr: Boston's skyline is as large as would be expected for a city its size based on the number of 150 m+ buildings/ skyscrapers are as common in Boston as any other city of similar size.
 
Dont forget Boston has a population of around 650,000 people (skewed due to stoppage of annexation), but for a city that numbers wise is that small its actually a rather large skyline. Los Angeles is 3.8 million and its only a couple steps up. Dallas which is one above is 1.25 million people. I know that in "reality" Boston is much bigger and greater Boston is 4.5 million people, but within the no shit city limits of Boston there is only 650,000 people.

The Pru I'm 99.9% sure is 749' and just gets rounded up to 750. I didn't realize 1 Bromfield was going to be 742' Im sure I saw it but it didn't click till now. Thats huge.

What is the point you are trying to make here? It would be like saying "Manhattan has a really large skyline for a city with 1.6 million people" which completely ignores the context in which the skyline developed. If you want to discuss the size of a skyline relative to population you should use the metro population since that's what high rise demand scales with.

And Boston slots in on those lists right where you would expect it by metro area population.

Interesting to see that Boston has always had tall structures -- most notably the 100 year old Customs House Tower and a number of churches just below the listed towers
 
Chicago, Houston, Miami, DC, Seattle, LA, Boston and SF are all adding significant sq ft.

of that group, Chicago, Miami, Houston, Seattle, LA, SF are also building several very tall.

Boston sort of.... Boston and SF have both virtually run out of land/nimby land.

Philly, not adding so much sq ft, but several very tall towers.

New York; more insane supertalls, skyscrapers and highrises than can be counted by mortals.

Out of curiosity I just checked Philly because it just hit me it hadn't shown up in my list I made and I was surprised so I found it now and if we want to find the prime example of a city with a small skyline for it's size Philly is the prime example.

Even after Philly's current proposals are built it will still be behind Boston a little bit in buildings over 150 m; however, it will be ahead in buildings over 100 m. It will also have two supertall skyscrapers so its maximum height will be significantly taller still which is no surprise.
