Can we possibly have renders added to the first post of each project so we don't have to scroll through each page to find out what a building is supposed to look like?
I suggested that a few years ago. I guess it's really up to the thread starter to take the initiative. That's what I did with the Millennium Tower thread.

As have I in various threads I've started.

How about making a user a moderator with just the permissions to edit posts so that someone could go back and add renders to all the first posts on a thread? I know there are only a couple of mods and I like that but this wouldn't be a mod with a lot of power, just one that would edit the top posts of threads.

Even if the mods are cool with this, you'd also have to find someone who would want to do it.

I didn't want to post on the HQ2 thread and didn't want to post in Open Thread, so here I am.

I don't think anyone should be banned b/c that's not how the internet works and there are always a few who like what many of us dislike.

It seems obvious to me that some people have blocked me; why don't you just do the same with those you don't want to see? Do you know how to? Go to the person's profile and you can do it there. Then you won't see those people's posts. It might still bother you that they're out there but .. believe me, your life will be better for it.

I blocked my first person a couple weeks ago and now I don't have to read complaints about how Boston won't build a tall tower, any longer!

Simple answer: You still see the replies. You still have to read through (or avoid) derailed threads and everyone losing their shit. Of course, if everyone took your advice those problems would be solved, but I don't see that happening.

It's obvious that no one is going to be banned so I wouldn't worry about it.

I have noticed an uptick in incivility here lately. Is it just the season?

It happened during the elections last year. Maybe it's just this time of year.

I always notice it when there is a lack of actual news. It's like sports talk radio, we all come here because we love to talk about it but where there is nothing new we dig up crap that doesn't matter and get headed about it.

That, however, is no excuse for name calling or incivility. Users who are guilty of this will be warned but if they continue will be banned. Just take a second to think before you respond.

Is there a way for threads to be visually tagged when there’s actual news? Maybe designate a thread “hot” or something for a couple of days after real news breaks?

I’m thinking of course of threads like Amazon, etc

It’s not that I hate the discussions. Mostly they are fine. It’s just that one never knows if there’s something really new and different.

I really wish the Amazon thread was not in the development forum. It's not a development yet.

I know this has been kicked around quite a bit, but I'm going to bring it up this time: Having the "Outside of Boston metro" section broken into three parts: "Greater New England", "Portland", and "General Architecture and Urban Planning". Due to the popularity of Portland subjects and the Portland subculture within AB, I think the new part could easily sustain itself within this forum.

We are working on it.

It doesn’t seem as though Portland is dominating the Greater New England forum in the manner that it used to. I realize that Portland has a loyal following here and that they may not be concerned with what’s happening in other New England cities but is there really a need to dedicate a forum entirely to Portland for what amounts to a few posts a day?

We're talking about other additions beyond Portland, but things may get implemented at different times.
