Whatever color it is, THIS bridge is far more relevant to building a world class city than your half-empty Potemkin Village, foreign despot owned, opaque glass skyscrapers. ;)

I actually just started grad school at northeastern and so I spend some time in the new ISEC building (the big blob with wooden slats) and got some photos from inside of the bridge and park. It looks awesome in person!

Thanks so much, DAVE! Great to get the perspective looking out from the building, as almost everything lately has been from the opposite direction.
 
Ok, I still don't quite get this bridge. Were the tall sides (which for me create a very closed-in tunnel effect and I'm not at all claustrophobic) built to keep possible jumpers from jumping onto the active rail lines or protecting slightly tipsy college kids or college kids just being college kids from crazy balancing acts with possibly disastrous results? Usually pedestrian bridges have lower railings even if the heights are high up, over rivers or roadways, etc., to provide that feeling of openness.
 
Just a guess, but I suspect it has to do with proximity to Amtrak's electrical lines. All the bridges on the NEC were redone with high walls like that when the line was electrified.

i'd have loved the dorm tower to have a bit more industrial look.

any updates for that?
 
Northeastern Task Force Meeting
6:00-8:00p, December 12th
Northeastern Alumni Center (716 Columbus, 6th floor)

There is a meeting of the Northeastern University Task Force to discuss Northeastern's upcoming plans and projects. The public is encouraged to attend.

The next project will be ISEC II which may be up to 14 stories. Additional housing would be built on the Ryder lot and the Parcel 18 site. Although Northeastern owns Parcel 18 it has been designated as the site for a hotel in the past and is not part of the 2013 IMP.

The Punter's Pub (RIP) site is still up in the air as to its reuse.

Did anyone attend the community meeting? How was this received? Did the NIMBY's have a meltdown?
