Back in the 20-teens, I wondered who'd win the race to fully develop their "neighborhood": Fan Pier, Boston Landing/New Balance Complex, or Assembly Row. Obviously Fan Pier is going to win out; Boston Landing/New Balance Complex still has the hotel parcel remaining and Assembly Row still has parcels 7 and 9 remaining.

Just an addendum to this: Over the weekend, I was walking by this site and out of curiosity, decided to pop underground below Goodwin Proctor's building to see if the parking garage below this site had been blocked off in advance of construction. And indeed, the Parcel H side of the garage was completely partitioned. So this one is obviously about to shoot up.

Interestingly the sampler looks a lot like the building further down in the Seaport at the corner of Harbor St and Channel St.

When Fan Pier was first proposed, a Grand Hyatt hotel was going to be the centerpiece. Then the hotel was supposed to be at this site. Now, they are going with residential. Given that hotel rooms in Boston routinely go for $500-900 a night, it's a crime that the BRA (or whatever they call themselves now) allowed the hotel to be eliminated from Fan Pier entirely. The needs of the city, not the developer should be the goal of the agency. Boston needs hotels!

I like to stay at citizenM when I'm in Boston (unless work comps me at Raffles, duh) or at Aloft in other cities. And so now, today, searching off season for next weekend the Aloft's rooms in the Seaport are all over $500 per night! I work and stay sometimes in Austin too, and they have six Aloft Hotels and its rooms next weekend are nearly all under $200. But I'm guessing it's the Seaport District that is causing this price peak. Either that, or a combination of that it must be a particularly fun interior design for this one. The new one in Portland, Maine is fun too. But then there is one in Austin that is just too weird and stupid. And experience a part-time indifferent Gen Z type at the front desk with a piercing though his nose and you'll turn around and leave.

Just want to point out that September through mid-November are prime season for travel in Boston. Nothing off season about this period.
