/\ Thank you!

A little drunk from Jillian's, but since it's a new day, I need to post a new photo-of-the-day

Gilt's wearing off the unicorn. Makes me wonder if it was the real McCoy to begin with; it's only been a few decades since they freshened up this building.

Actually, you can't tell in that pic, but they're working on this right now. Scaffolding's on the other side.

Plus, I'm almost positive they are not the originals. The originals were torn off during/right after the Revolution and I doubt they were put into storage. I'm not sure when the current ones were constructed.

Edit: The internet knows all:

1776
* Declaration of Independence read to Bostonians from the balcony. Lion and unicorn are removed and burned at bonfire. King Street is renamed State Street.

1882
* Restoration completed under City Architect George Clough and Councilman William Whitmore (the Society's first president). Lion and unicorn are returned to east facade.

Edit again: Upon rereading, ablarc was clearly questioning whether the gilt was real, not if the Symbols were the originals. Not sure how I mixed that up.

That was taken just today. Is it the navy thing again?

Also, I've never been one to go up to the top of buildings and take pictures -- and I just wanted to say it's HARD to take photos through glass!!! I had the lens right up to the glass and still had to put my hands around the edges to prevent reflection. I couldnt turn the lights off on the inside (which would have prevented ALL of my problems) because it was a hallway

I think its nice.

Guess where this is!

Heres a hint:

OH hell! That EXACT same bike structure is along the drive going along the "Chesterfield Commons Mall" - the pride of the West St. Louis Country area, the longest in America, at 1.5 miles long!!! So don't be proud, it basically is the definition of sprawl.

The bike is in Brookline.

The 2nd and 3rd pics are in the SBW (correct!) near the trade center and the silver line station. The stairs lead up to the street connecting the trade center with the convention center

Let's play a game: Guess The Location!

This pastoral Brookline scene can be found in the dense eastern part of town, and affords a nice skyline view

Look for the blue to give you a clue:

This one used to see blue, but now is nestled within a concrete forest:
