These could go in a number of threads (Arlington, skyline shots, aerials, etc.) but I guess I'll dump them here.

Either way HOLY COW was today nice and I had some work around the corner, so I decided to FINALLY visit the Symmes Park in Arlington

And for the record, my drone (or rather it's my company's) doesn't have any zoom capability, so it's just wideout shots booooooo

Best 3 day weekend of the year in Boston........hands down.

My civic pride is highest on Marathon Weekend. Truly brings out the best in what makes Boston great. The greatest antidote to parochialism/xenophobia. The aura is fantastic. I have neighbors down here in Maryland who have run Boston and they are forever amazed at the great karma they experience. I'm not exaggerating when I say, to a person, they speak about Boston as if it is Shanga La. My first few years down here I had to ask "Are you SURE you're talking about Boston?"

There is NO better advertisement for the city and the Commonwealth than this. The difference between 1972 and 2022 is that normal everyday life the other 364 days in a Boston year is far more like an international marathon event day. That's a great thing.

Remember when Architecture used to be an art form?
Some would say the cost of labor is what prohibits this kind of detail in new buildings. But why couldn't pre-fab panels have this level of detail by utilizing 3-d print technology? I'm guessing it should be economically feasible. It seems that a lack of vision inhibits things these days more than anything else.

I hope city planners and developers someday regain the “joy” of urban architecture that seemed more evident in late 19th century- WWII America. Yes, tenements and slums were also thrown up, but there was more civic pride in buildings overall. Today “detail” has been replaced by sameness, walls and glass.
