^we dont really know how parcel K is going to turn out yet, because its half cladded. The funny thing is if you go back probably 3 pages, when this wasnt finished yet either and before the wood trim, people were saying the materials looked really dull and crappy here too. Now this is being used as an example of great materials and another unfinished building is being called crappy lol? This happens a lot here where a half finished building has a point where it looks pretty bad, because its half finished, and then once its complete and the vision is realized it actually looks pretty good and people come around on it. Thats why a lot of people have realized to just hold off a bit on conclusions, because a lot of times (like here) itll work out fine.

You're 100% correct. Since it's such a long process for these projects to be built, it's hard to hold-off on critiquing the project as we see it during the construction phase, but we really shouldn't trash something before it's done haha.

Stick,
Dunno what you're talkin about man. Who would do such a thing. :) Oh, and just wait; reactionaries will use these gilded materials to blow their income inequality dog-whistles.

In my defense, I've always said that the construction and materials of Pier 4 were high quality even throughout the build out (though not a fan of some of their interior finishes), except for when I thought they had cheaped out on some of the balconies on the lowest floor.

I'll gladly eat cake if Parcel K turns out great, and I'm actually pulling for its success, but I'll stand by my comments that I think the materials themselves look cheap.

The people who blog in da Globe that the area shall forever remain lifeless,

are not gonna have eggs on their muffins--

but they'll find ways to libel the people who come to live here–in any case.

It's nice up close, handsome wood details, and I really like the penthouse units with private roof terraces, but it does look like a docked cruise ship when viewed from the side.

That was probably the intention/inspiration?

This is probably going to be one of the best parts of the harbor walk, as you walk along this section youll be walking way out into the harbor and also have a great view out towards the entrance and the ocean.

The harborwalk in front of the building is open, and it's gorgeous.
Looking east from the ICA:

Backwards towards the previous phases and Fan Pier:

The end of the pier. My phone camera is totally inadequate to capture the views here.

WOW! Stunning! Love all of this! And to put things in perspective, none of this (with the exception of what looks like Fort Point buildings in the distance), existed just 15 years ago! It's the most amazing thing to have watched such a transformation, mostly on this site, ArchBoston. Haven't a clue who began this forum, and who continues to maintain it, but thanks from me and thanks to all of you who contribute so much in terms of pictures, and information.

Bonus for those of you who are so concerned:

Someone can put a temporary marker for the highest non-storm tide of the year on one of th steps and come back year after year -- someday you might actually notice a change

Why don't you do it, since several of your posts since your return have made some reference to the fallacy of climate change. It's time we get some real data, and you look like the perfect guy for the job.
