The wood pulls it all together in both materials and color. This seems to be delivering what the renderings promised.
 
Agreed, it was looking bland and like it was missing something... something like wood. The detailing of the wood is looking pretty striking too. Its looking like each top floor penthouse is getting its own roof access also, thats sweet.
 
Wow, that wood trim! And those shadows on the building,the shadow pattern must be intentional due to having only one side of the balcony remain solid as well as the arrangement of the balconies. In this pic, the shadows on the building add a whole new aspect of the building's skin, like an optical illusion, that I was not expecting.

The wood accents match the Seaport Hotel's brickwork in that last pic, which I rather like.
 
I was on the fence about this through the majority of the building process. I can say now that it came out very well.
 
The original proposed renderings looked alot better on paper than what is actually being built.

Mixed emotions on this. :?:

Wait for the final product with additional lighting at night could help.

I think BeeLine's last photo makes it look a bit awkward. May be the angle? I think it looks better in person than the last photo indicates. But I also think the renders look better unless the finishing touches and landscaping help pull it together some more.

The real tragedy that can be seen in person (and is visible in BeeLine's last photo if you look hard enough) is that they do not appear to be using glass panels on the lowest floor balconies (i.e., the level that runs right on top of the wood trim). Take a look at the two balconies on the lowest floor on the right side of the photo. They used some rusty-ass looking metal panels that are opaque and horrendous looking in person. Looks lower grade than Home Depot clearance specials. I thought that maybe they could just be something temporary, but I'm doubtful. The same framing to hold the panels could be seen on the other lowest floor balconies on the left side of the photo. I would be pissed to pay that much only to get most of the view from my window blocked off.
 
The metal panels on the lower floor balconies were placeholders until the glass was installed. All balconies now have glass.

In February it was announced $26,000,000+ has been extracted from developers to put toward the creation of 459 affordable units and the preservation of 50 existing ones. I won't say this is a silver bullet, but whether you look at it as paying forward or getting fleeced, big developments do pay into working class housing.

Yea so this came out amazing. Especially where it counts at ground level. Those steps are going to be a hit too for sure, people love that shit. Now the seaport harborwalk is about to extend a good bit farther too with this opening as well which is always a huge plus when more is added. Especially more harborwalk that looks like this... This bit of harborwalk juts out into the harbor too, which makes it that much better.
