Update:

ok, maybe not that bad.

This was 12 weeks ago (December 4th, 2016)....

Maybe a floor every 10~11 days?

At first I thought the white trim might be too bright but maybe the gray trim will be too dark. Hard to tell at this point.

Maybe it's just me, but I wish the wedge-shaped base (that forms the majority of the streetwall) was a few stories higher. I know the idea is probably to gradually step up the height of the streetwall for a smooth height transition; but they could have doubled the height of the base without creating an unsightly or imposing wall. Frankly, I think it looks goofy from this angle with it's next door neighbors being so much taller right up against the sidewalk.

^ Agreed - the podium is too low; I'd rather see a better street wall. The same issue occurs in new construction over in the seaport too. I speculate the intent here is to make the tower appear slimmer but the streetwall suffers IMO.

^ I like it as is. The shorter podium accentuates the tower and differentiates the building from its neighbor.

From a functional and economic perspective, the podium is all retail and amenities while the tower is residential units. Adding additional floors of retail / amenities would likely be impractical, so if the podium were taller those floor would probably still be residential. If I'm a buyer on the third or fourth floor I think I'd prefer to have my windows set back a bit from the street for more privacy and less noise, so hypothetical 3rd and 4th floor podium units might not be as valuable as 3rd and 4th floor tower units.

I like the clear view of the Millennium tower in that pic.

Man thats a view! Its hard to tell which new tower will have the best views. This may be it you get to see the whole city from a distance. 1 Dalton may have one of the worse views, besides the fact you have all of those nice brownstones to look at....idk its tough. MT's custom house tower/harbor view is incredible, and 22 liberties view of downtown and the harbor is very nice too. With regards to the podium I think we need to hold off until its complete until we make the final decision, I feel like its going to be ok.

Every time I see this shot I wish that they would have just built Boylston 2 ways and in a straight path from rt 9 to downtown. Its such a pain in the balls if you want to get to the pierce and your near the pru. No need for that, but that happens a lot in Boston. I wonder if they could straighten boylston as long as they have to give back and equal amount or more of land. They could even just fix that stupid ass layout where the bridge to storrow is to give another route to get here from the east. Theres a lot of these quirks in Boston and a lot are charming and a lot more add minutes and frustration to commutes.

I wouldn't even bother straightening Boylston I would just make it so it is two ways for its whole length a slight curve isn't going to hurt anything as long as it is two way and I think the curve provides a nice "moment" that adds interest and prevents the road from being too monotonous.

I would like to see Boylston straightened because the curve visually cuts off the Fenway from Back Bay. If Boylston were straightened the two neighborhoods would feel more connected.

Please no. [Generic American city] has straight roads everywhere; Boston has Olmstead.

They're going to have to sweep that mess up before the residents move in, jeeze
