The circus is packing up and leaving town!

That is one long passenger transit bridge!
The thought occurs to me that, if it weren't divided between Gates 12 and 14, you could cut a hole in the side in the middle of it and park a food truck (with a scissor lift as needed) there to serve it! Although I'm sure in this city Mr. Tuna would immediately grab the license.

Without proper insulation, there is no realistic scenario for this entire length to offer comfortable temperatures. Whether it's January and February below zero, or July and August above 90 degrees, it's going to become a kind of mad dash to the plane or terminal. It's always less then, when cutting corners to save money. This should have been a terminal extension, though a narrow one. That guy arriving from Florida with flowered Bermuda shorts on is due for a big surprise.

Having been that guy, I'd still take the new arrangement with level deplaning and no wind or rain over the prior situation. Not to mention, that guy is going to be exiting on the other side of the terminal soon enough, and I don't believe that the number of people who choose "I'll wear shorts on the plane and change in the john at the terminal" is statistically significant.

According to their brochure, the company's jetways spec to R-14. I also count three separate HVAC units on top.

One of the foreman told me that the covered walkway's ability moderate the temperature was flawless during testing and it is actually wider on the inside than expected. Comfort was never my concern but the 100 yard plus trek to get to the Gate 14 jetway will be unique and the longest of any airport from what I've been told. This will not hinder the ability to extend the actual terminal building as needed in the future because the elevated walkway can be disassembled and removed with little effort. I think PWM spent the available grant money as wisely as possible especially considering that the gate area expansion with new restrooms was originally not going to happen.

Total distance to the aircraft door at Gate 14 is approximately 150 yards. You would still be walking the same distance if the actual terminal was extended that far just not in a climate controlled pedestrian bridge with gorgeous views of the apron via narrow vertical windows! :)

Nice job PWMFlyer, the first peek beyond the construction wall! The dry run with passengers must have been delayed until this weekend.

Just flew in FLL hopefully we will get a direct from someone. Baggage claim looks very similar to pwm lol..

Breeze just added them as a destination the other day, so let’s cross our fingers they get a PWM-FLL route going! That east coach is FL is so underserved.

I really do believe it is short sighted not to go ahead with the parking garage expansion at this time however the NIMBY's knew what they were getting when they bought property next to an airport ...

Agreed. If you know that a metropolis is going to grow, naturally its transportation needs will follow. As I've said, a big garage could be built behind the Hilton Garden Inn for parking and rental cars. I don't think the neighboring dead people (in the cemetery) will mind. And the current parking lots for rental cars across from Embassy Suites could be removed and replaced with green space. Just find the money. Create another passenger tax (50 cents). You got my two quarters to not park outside in the winter.

Avelo's PWM-HVN seems to be off to a -very- slow start.

Seat maps aren't an indication of overall bookings....but Sunday's (5/25) HVN-PWM only has 11 out of 145 seats booked. The return PWM-HVN only has 5 seats booked.

Next month I need to travel from Portland to see friends who live about 25 min. east of New Haven. I thought about it. Instead, I'm taking the Downeaster to Boston and got a great deal on a premium SUV rental in the Seaport District, so going to to do that instead (and check out the new construction there too). Total cost, train r/t and car rental? About $250 (2-day car rental). What's the r/t airfare on Avelo? I don't see this service continuing. If you want to go to NYC from Portland take the Concord Coach VIP bus... From Portland to NYC it's around 5.5 hours to drop off in front of the U.N. building. CC really books it now. Went to South Station from Portland this past winter and half-way across the Mystic River Bridge it had been 91 minutes.

Avelo executives flew in yesterday, we all know this is just a fill in for a couple of months, is there more to come for a more permanent route development? International down the road after the FIS is built?
