Portland International Jetport | PWM

I don't think so. Breeze serves 9 destinations (including seasonal) out of PWM and is becoming a signatory airline which demonstrates a level of commitment to the market. Breeze will now fly to 3 destinations out of PSM and it is an alternative to BOS more than it would be to PWM in my opinion.

The Jetport updated its passenger numbers:

I wouldn't think twice about boarding from a "gate 13." But then that's me. (And everyone knows that gate 14 is actually the 13.)

As a society we really shouldn’t indulge these superstitions. 13 is a perfectly fine number. Six on the other hand…

I was at the meeting where the attendees voted in favor for not having a Gate 13 which surprised me. There are still 14 actual gates due to 1A and 1B being parking spots for regional jets.

AA from PHL X2, DCA, ORD, LGA, CLT, DFW all on RONs tonight. 7 aircraft for AA alone! Half the gates!!
17 total aircraft staying the night in Portland. 14 gates… 2 de-ice pad spots? Where’s the last one going? Good problem to have for Paul Bradbury and company!

They can actually park three aircraft in the de-ice pads so we're barely covered. I'm heading to XNA tomorrow with a stop in MSP and am looking forward to seeing the terminal at Northwest Arkansas National Airport which is just a few spots behind PWM in enplanements. They are the smallest airport in the country with an Escape Lounge (2300 sf) which I hope to see built in Portland someday.

There is not much at XNA, it's in the middle of nowhere, it serves Tyson and Walnart as it's two largest companies with headquarters nearby. All I remember an auntie Annie's, a quick to go place , and a small bar. The rental facility is across from the terminal in the garage. The terminal is new looking, it reminds me of Bangor.

XNA has really taken off since the pandemic and actually has as many gates as PWM. It is the 101st busiest airport in the country just behind Little Rock at #100 and serves a growing metro area which includes Bentonville, Rogers, Springdale and Fayetteville.

That looks like it's far more expandable and efficient layout than PWM. Of course PWM was originally a smallish airfield that grew up, without acres of available flat land around it

PWM is literally neighbors to some of the oldest buildings in the city. Not just the Tate House, but there's at least one other on Westbrook St. that, although heavily remodeled, retains elements of its early-18th Century origins. So it was pinned in from the start.

Yeah - For better or worse, decisions were made along the way to keep it's original/current location, with it's site constraints (as mentioned). One positive is it's proximity to downtown (can't get much closer) ... But another negative is landing on that short runway in the winter time (haha)

Is the Jetway replacement project going to happen in the fall? I noticed that the tarmac is being reconstructed, any other projects happening before the end of the year? I heard that the surface parking lot is a go with a fall start.

Those new panels surrounding the doors for 11, 12 and 14 are filled with LED's. I'm looking forward to pics of them lit up in different colors (security permitting, of course)!

And, of course, permanent signage for the gates and actual furniture being added.
