Portland, ME - New Construction Continued

Not sure if you guys check out Wikipedia too much, but I just added a "List of tallest buildings and structures in Portland, Maine" on the Portland, Maine page under "Notable Buildings". Check it out and let me know if it needs to be tweaked. Most of my references are from Emporis.com

The Portland page has been updated ^ (thank you Portlander). If you have any inputs, especially for Wikipedia or Emporis (I edit both), please let me know. I'm also working on these two pages:

Cambridge, Massachusetts (200+ft):

Tallest buildings outside of Boston - in Massachusetts (250+ft):

New renders of the 89 Anderson St. project in East Bayside, which received its rezoning earlier this winter and is allegedly headed for planning board approval soon:

Doesn't look too bad. Build a few more of these in roughly the same area, and then eventually we can see some 5-6 story proposals springin' up too.

Yeah, I think it works well for that neighborhood, since it borders on the more commercial/industrial section of East Bayside.

Hey all,

My girlfriend goes to school in Portland (UNE) and I am going up to visit her this weekend. Its been a while since I've been up and I am pumped to visit some restaurants and bars that I've been missing!

Any new/current developments I should check out and try to get some pictures of?

Well, we weren't much help, were we? If you come up again, I'd suggest seeing the latest Allagash expansion (yeah, it's industrial, but not many companies are actually doing new industrial construction in Portland), the new rock gym on Warren Ave. not far from the UNE parking lot on Bishop St., and the Portland Yacht Services yard on Commercial St.

Nice project and a great addition to that section of Congress Street which could use a boost. The new Rite Aid building should begin construction soon across from 7-11 which was delayed due to the addition of a drive thru.

I really like what I'm seeing so far. I'm all for filling in the empty spots on this stretch of Congress towards the West End.

Ditto. The design seems to pull a lot of little elements from several buildings along Congress Street, and it puts them together very well. I'd love to see more of this along Congress Street.

Nice design, like the size. Lets hope it stays that way.

Edit: Hopefully the people in the tall building next door don't bitch about losing their views (like in the case when residents of the Back Bay Tower complained about their views when a 12 story building was proposed)

I'm guessing that building next door is more apartments than condos, though, so that will hopefully limit the bitching.

I like everything about the design except for the "corrugated" brown stuff.

Managed to hit most of the big projects on my stroll today.
