Does anyone else remember these crazy proposals for the Government Center garage redevelopment? Pics are from 2008, @Beton Brut originally uploaded them in this thread.
It’s fucking delightful that pics I took surreptitiously almost 20 years ago with a Palm Pilot are still circulating on the internet…😆

I don't think this was ever officially proposed, and if it was I missed it, but I stumbled on this beauty* today on TRIA's website. I have fantasized about this block for a while, the form is pretty cool I have some notes around the detailing but would be an awesome project.

Err I actually don't think that can be particularly old? SST is clearly a render, but Winthrop center looks like its built, as does substantial parts of the SST bus terminal and garage footprint - it has to be from the last two years. What really piqued my interest is that i know that block isn't contiguous - a little closer inspection shows that while it appears to straddle or bridge the city RoW of Gridley Street, the footprint appears to avoid the majority of parcels on Pearl, which have fractured ownership. Per city tax records, the exception on the Pearl/Purchase corner is owned by the same folks who own 230 Congress on the opposite corner, Northwood. Howver, the missing pieces fronting Purchase are still held by separate owners. Interesting, interesting... following fast.

100% - GREAT catch. The SST bus terminal looks the same in this render as it does in the current Google Maps 3D view (note the brown / tan lines) and the shadow being cast on the South Station building itself (by the rising tower to its south) is even the same. These get updated every year or so.

Also note the CambridgeSide lab project in the far upper right. This render is from Summer 2023 at the absolute oldest.

The blocked off parcel at India St and the Greenway also puts the underlying image between 2022 and 2024.

Ha, good old Biddy's. Went a few times when I worked at IP1. The second time I was there I noticed they had a food menu and I almost threw up in my mouth.

This proposal is stellar in every facet.

I was cleaning up some of my files today and stumbled across this 1950 proposal to convert Fort Point Channel into a depressed highway, which would have been the Central Artery. Ths was proposed before the old Central Artery and its Dewey Square tunnel were built.
Here is a plan view and, below that, a render. Horrific stuff:
