Quincy Center Redevelopment

It all looks very nice. I’m sure a few stories will get chopped off all of it, but great to see this level of development. I’ve been saying for years that the contrast between one side of Hancock and the other is just begging for redevelopment.

Kinda sad to be moving out soon.

“The Grossman Companies is planning the redevelopment of the shopping plaza located at 56, 74, 126 Granite Street in Quincy Center. Plans call for a 7-story development to include 8,300 square feet of office space, over 50,000 square feet of restaurant/retail space, and 256 residential units….”

This is beautiful and maybe deserves its own thread! We need to keep building higher and keeping retail on the first floor on these 1 floor retail plazas! Now, if the red line could be faster and the Old Colony Lines with double-tracking and electrification (more on that in the appropriate threads 😀)

For an area with a robust downtown core though, I'm mildly frustrated with 7 story maxes dictated by 5 over 2s. This was addressed in the thread on why there's so many of those, but what I'm saying is this location is prime for spending more than the 5 over 2 constraints (look at One Chestnut).
