South Boston Infill and Small Developments

Small projects planned for A Street in Southie

Developers have submitted small project review applications with the Boston Redevelopment Authority for a pair of proposed projects on A Street in South Boston.

A mixed-use commercial development with 51,700 square feet of office space, some 12,000 square feet of ground-level retail and fitness/gym space, and 18 garage parking spaces would be built on three parcels at 69-71 A St. and 99 Athens St. under plans by 69 ASTMA Owner LLC, whose manager is listed as Kashif Sheikh of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. A three-story, brick-and-beam former rivet factory building on the 17,749-square-foot site would be renovated and expanded with a three-story addition on top and six-story extension at the rear. A two-story former catering and office structure on the site would be demolished.

The second proposal by Dorchester’s Oranmore Enterprises LLC is for a six-story, nine-unit condominium building with one retail/commercial space on a 4,169-square-foot parcel at 100 A St. The Residences at One Hundred A would include eight two-bedroom, 2.5-bath units and one four-bedroom, three-bath unit with a private roof deck. An enclosed parking garage with lifts would
accommodate 10 cars, and the developer plans to sign a 10-year lease with the nearby Channel Center Parking Garage to provide 24-hour parking for eight cars.

Bye bye My Diner and Williams Tavern.

Terrible. I live a few blocks away and frequent My Diner on a regular basis. Very sad to see it go, but at least we still have Mul's (for now).

I am pro development and am excited to see the redevelopment of this area, but this is a prime location across from what should be a transformative building in the Artist for Humanity expansion. The city should push back on this one.
