South End Infill and Small Developments

The East Berkeley project looks a lot like the Stone & Webster building with a few of the currently-popular stylistic gimmicks applied to it. This is not a compliment.

Also, what is it with Druker and black buildings? Apparently he doesn't realize that virtually every black building in Boston looks like shit--the one mentioned above included. Hopefully, at the very least, the color will be changed before this one is built.

Chevron is unveiled, sidewalk in front now open.

PS. I HATE PHOTOBUCKET.

How come it never "takes" when you adjust an image's dimensions?

Closings have commenced at the Chevron. Three units closed last week, #3, 4, 5. $3.5 million, $3.125 million, $3.125 million.

Fourth closing at The Chevron: $3.1 million. I think there's just one left? (#1?) There had been rumors the ex-president of Mexico was going to be buying here - he works at Harvard now - but no sign of his name.

From the 600 Harrison PNF.

Couple things: 236 parking spaces??? Also, St Helena is definitely going to be affected by shadows (not making a judgement, just stating a fact). And, they bored to see what the ground is made of; I can't draw conclusions but it looks as though there won't be any problems, which bodes well for anything built nearby; the InkBlock/Albany St neighborhood, I'm not so sure.

Finally, I love how the one image of the actual project emphasizes the fire station next door. No tenant should be upset when they're awakened in their sleep ...

Excellent (mostly). Sleek design and the double height lobby is sexy. The ground level of the south side is too monolithic though unless those are private entranceways with small front yards? Hard to tell.

Yayyy Chevron!

If only every building were this easy on the eyes (and easy to photograph!)

Anyone know what the developers hopes/what might actually end up in the space(s) on the ground floor?

I could be crazy but 600 Harrison seems to me to be the project that makes the South End whole.

There now will be a near solid streetscape from East Berkeley Street to Northampton Street along Harrison Avenue.

I know Druker, Graybar, and Ink Block will or are being added, but this project will be quite an achievement for what was 20 years ago a forgotten street.

Now if we could please develop on the sacred gardens on East Berkeley between Shawmut and Tremont, I will stop seething the amount of land wasted on parking at Castle Square.

Those gardens are such an eyesore. Plus, would you eat a vegetable grown in that soil? You might as well just eat your paint chips raw.

The rumor was that Jack, from the Eagle, is going to reopen the Old Dutch Cottage Candy store in that space.

True... In the smaller space on the left. The right side is to be a high end barber shop.

^^^^

That would look real nice in place of the gardens.
